When or What makes this season unacceptable

How is it going to get better - more to the point.

Robbie Farah, Chris Lawrence, Jacob Liddle, Benji Marshall, Robbie Rochow are the only players off contract that we can replace for next year if we desired. None of these 5 players are on even mediocre contracts. Marshall and Liddle will be re- signed by Madge imo. Rochow will be let go, Robbie should be let go and if we let Rowdy go (I wouldn't) but would we be able to get a player as good for the same outlay? So assuming we keep him we would have what 550k in the kitty.

We want to get rid of Reynolds, Packer, Matulino and McQueen - worth about 2.5 million - what would we get for them assuming that somebody would take them off our hands. Probably less than half of what we paid, so 1 million.

If all worked we would have 1.5 million to spend for 2020, unfortunately the players available (zero tackle) would not improve the roster a great deal if at all and that is assuming anyone of them would come here.

Pretty much going to be the same, allowing for slight improvement in 2020 - so fasten your seat belts for another bumpy ride - maybe in 2021 we can get on the freeway.

So basically 2/3 of the season is gone now , things are looking scary

Madges 1st season of course and he doesn't have his own roster

So what do you class as an unacceptable season

For me it's Top 12 , we miss that and EVERY one must come under serious scrutiny , even Madge

Am I being too harsh or am I right .....every season missing the Top 8 and someone needs to pay

Morning Mr Negative Nellie..

To answer your question yes it's another EPIC fail for the Mighty Wests Tigers BUT IMO true success is for the team that Wins the Premiership..all the others FAILED as well just at varying degrees..people bang on about accepting mediocrity but unless you are the team that wins the whole shabang ..just making the finals and doing nothing is the same thing..

but I guess it's the World we live in today..everyone gets a ribbon..

Have a nice day..

Lol
That’s just a cheap cop out !
Need to make the 8 to have a shot at the whole shebang ...

Who came 5th last year..how'd they go..?

Panthers came 5th
At least they gave themselves a chance !
You should hold “missing the 8” party’s !
Free cordial for everyone!

Did they get a ribbon...?

Yes Nathan’s Mum made them all ribbons !
You happy now ..?
Plus they would’ve made extra money with at least more merchandise sales by making the semis !
But you keep on pandering on with mediocrity!

Show me where I said that...It's an Epic FAIL not to make it ..said that..It's also a FAIL if you don't win it is what I'm saying..that also should be unacceptable..

Enjoy your ribbon..and your Pamfer jersey

Will do ..
Leaving soon via the Outback Steakhouse...
You used to be cool until you succumbed to mediocrity lol

@Nelson I agree. I wasn't discounting him for non performance. Just the fact he's missed an extended period and is on a large contract. I hope he's back soon.

We're gonna start seeing those jokes like the last time the blues won a series facebook didn't exist.
Here's mine, the last time we made the semis my daughter didn't exist. She's 7 in November.
Anyone else got one ?

last time tigers were in the finals i was in high school, right now i've been working full time for 3 years AFTER finishing uni

Finals or failure Madge has already said this. if we don’t make it players have to go and ones that will get us there come in. Salary cap is an issue because of the snake.

Since 2000 that's 19 years of Rugby league the tigers have made the finals 4 times?

No that's 25% more than we have actually made it..

That is 20 years of on field playing this year not 19, and we made the finals in 2005, 2010 and 2011, if we miss this year it is 15%, one really abysmal record, with no real accountability

Honestly ladder position means nothing. We won't make the finals, and anything from 9-15 doesn't really matter. The only thing that matters for us at the moment is recruitment and retention. If we are able to offload some deadweight and recruit some decent talent, I'll consider 2019 acceptable, regardless of where we end on the ladder.

I have had enough of my half full glass and am smashing the bastard of a thing this time around if nothing changes over the closing rounds. I was glad to see the back of the traitor and had no problem with the replacement that was chosen.

The way that I see it, if our new coach is better than his predecessor/s, then he should be able to get improved results from a similar squad. I have not totally given up on the season, so there is still a chance to avoid failure, which is defined by whether or not the finals are reached.

Lets say it is unacceptable, what are we going to do about it? Moan, complain, act like victims who deserve better, and come back in 2020 and do it all over again.

It is simple really. Firstly, how many members of this forum are financially active members of this club? (Maybe we should do a survey) I’m pretty sure it is a significant number.

As a sign of protest do NOT renew any form of a membership and this will send a loud message to our incompetent management and in turn capture the eye of the tv networks who stand to lose ratings. If we as fans protest and stop watching, it will get the ball rolling and hopefully wake up the NRL to realise that the competition will suffer financially as a whole if they maintain the course of special treatment to handful of clubs.

This not only applies to our club but a few other clubs in similar situations. If we maintain the road we are going on, nothing will change and we will still be having the same conversation in the years to come.

As someone else eluded to - withhold our memberships and don't go to the games until something changes. Believe me it will.

The NRL will see the membership numbers fall - the ground attendances fall .....
Basically the interest in Wests Tigers fall and relocate the club to Perth.

Terrific - just the outcome we all want....NOT!.

@formerguest The true indication of a good coach is he can work with and get performances out of any roster handed to him , this might not mean taking his team to a premiership but at least improve the basic skill level and stamp his brand .
The way I see it Cleary as a coach (not the person) done more with this current crop of players than the present coach . I have been concerned as the season has progressed the team has been on a decline! IMO this does not look good moving forward ... I am getting the impression that Maguire is a Wayne Bennett clone he is a fair weather coach that needs a top class roster to achieve his goals this also covers his short comings . Thinking Maguire is the coach to take the Tigers to the next level I have my doubts and thinking he is NOT the right fit for a struggling club with limited facilities and an in trenched belief in mediocrity from the top down ! Maguire won a title and had a high powered run club .. plenty of money and a great robust roster and only put it together for one season and then eventually sacked . So as this season has progressed I have been disappointed with Maguire as coach and do not agree with the general consensus of him being the next big thing ,because I do not think our club has the resources that he requires to be successful!

I took your concern into consideration when I wrote this thought and that is why I stated that it should be a movement implemented across a number of clubs in the same position eg Dragons, Bulldogs etc
