David Kidwell is reported to have been confirmed as the new coach of the New Zealand Warriors.

According to reports players from the New Zealand NRL club were told of the decision this morning.

Kidwell takes on the role exited by Brian McClennan earlier this year.

The former Kiwi and Melbourne assistant is taking on a squad brimming with talent, but many have questioned whether he has the X-factor to land league's ultimate prize.

Sheens will hang around and get his money , don't worry about that.

That is not good for us,wish he would just leave, his test job is on the line on saturday,he might not have any coaching job next year,he should have swallowed his pride and went to NZ.

I've been a Sheens critic for a while now but if he's entitled to a payout, it's our obligation to pay it. If it means him taking an overseer of Jnr Development role or something similar, make him do it instead of forking out another wage on someone else.

He is not going to leave until he (rightly) gets paid out. That will not happen until the NRL provides the advance payment as per this thread:

The other option is for the shareholders to pay out Sheens.

I realise this, but I was just saying it can't be good for anyone with the old coach(10 year coach) hanging around in the background, and not being a happy camper either,it is a very unstable and posible unworkable situation, the club needs to find the money somehow to pay him and send him on his way,it is the only way forward.

He said he'd walk if we missed the semis.
(His word is worthless)
Humpty shoulda got it in writing.
(His ability is useless)

About the sum of things right there, Ink.

What about that Harry Whosyhoff or whatever his name is. He's rolling in dough and is supposed to be a backer of WT - is that correct? There's plenty of people with money hovering around this club, surely someone can pay Sheens out.

This is a really bad situation this club has gotten itself in. Fancy sacking a coach and then not be able to get rid of him! This could only happen to us. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in all of rugby league history I don't think this has ever happened. And for his part, Sheens is looking like a goose too. Why hang around making everyone at the club feel uncomfortable? Surely, Tim your dignity is more important than the money - you certainly wouldn't be in want.

Harry is a big Sheens fan Flip

If anything he may pull his backing

If he's staying it may well be time to institute those famous KPI's. The organisation has taken the step of moving him sideways, the job description will clearly change, so some performance management may well be in order

Happy & Flip…

Harry might have the money... But he limits how much & when he gives it and when it suits him

Tim has every right to demand he gets paid. WTFC agreed to keep him for another 3 years and changed their mind. Tim is not in the wrong here ...he entered into a contract in good faith that had T&C that both parties agreed in writing to. He did not to want to breach the contract ..the only fair remedy is either they pay him out what they agreed to or they find some other party to do the same or provide compensation.

In business you live & die by the sword. This case is no different. the fact is their is no other club at the moment that needs a coach and given the media focus that has been put on this circus event it is not likely that any club will take Tim on in the near fututre.

Oh well, if he's such a big fan then perhaps he can help his mate out by paying him out first then he can pull his backing from the club if he wants lol. I don't care, as long as Sheens is gone completely. It will be of no benefit to the new coach or the team to have him hanging around in the background.

You are right Snowleopard, business is business and Tim is not in the wrong, but he did say he would walk if WT didn't make the 8 this year. I don't think he would say something like that in jest. Surely, even he can see that he has grown stale here now and it would be in his, and the club's, best interests for him to move on completely.

By the sounds of it uncle Harry doesn't give much money at all to his favourite team, so if he does pull his backing what exactly are we losing?

was it 'i will walk away from the club' or 'i will step down as coach'. cant find the quote.
anyway, theres 900k on the line now. NO ONE on this forum would just walk away from that.

If we cannot get a suitable replacement for Tim Sheens how long do we put up with the Impasse? Would it be feasible if we are up for the cost of his contract anyway that the club simply hold onto him as head coach with strict KPIs. Wouldnt a Coach with his experience on a tight leash be more accountable to the Board and may be seen as a better incentive for him to perform or force his hand to quit if he cannot handle the pressure of the scruitiny. If the players cannot play under him maybe they need to have KPIs as well. The way its looking it may cost us a motza to pay him out and leaves very little to attract a reasonable coach so why cant the club make the best of a bad situation.
BTW this does not mean I am advocating his retention but suggesting that we may have no choice as per Benjis words to replace him when we have someone better.

To be fair to Sheens, I don't think he would have ever been suggesting that he would walk away from money he is entitled too. He would have anticipated he would get his pay out.

You can't find many actual people willing to step up and admit they heard the phrase "I will walk if we miss semis".
