Who is your roubd 1 2022 captain?

It sucks, but no one is replacing Tamou anyway. So just more wasted energy even discussing it.

Well we may as well just fold up the internet’s then

Keep Tamou (please understand I don't want this, but there are no good choices). Then straight to AD in his first game back. Make it a symbolic thing.

The world would be much better off.

I say Brooks for Captain. He is a natural born leader, good communicator, has respect of the Coaching Staff, Player of the Year three times, First picked every week.

Aahhh there's something Ive forgot. Oh shit, I forgot he cant play. Forget it......

I laughed so hard when I read some one on here claim he doesn't talk on the field because he's insecure about his speed impediment.

Tamou, dud captain. 15 mins a game then flexing on the bench... not ideal.

Brooks... hoping he has a real dig in 2022 and plays to his potential but the guy is so lost, it's baffling. He's woeful on the field and doesn't inspire anything, he is the furthest thing from a captain.

Anyway, Go Tigers !!

?

Not even an established NRL player, let alone captain material.

And Brooks got the job? ?

Must look at an individuals strengths and see how they can benefit the team.

Jackson Hastings:
Communicator ✅
Leadership ✅

Whilst AD is out, he strikes as a clear winner.
In my opinion.

I am not a fan of someone who has had no relation to WT become the club captain. Our last two captains in Mbye and Tamou had no idea what WT means. It's not about creating an identity or anything, the captainship us deserved after you've been a servant for a while.

Twal to me is a no-brainer. He needs to take that next step up and develop into a Finucane, Yeo, JWH type leader. He should be named captain start of pre-season. Tamou can lead the forward pack and be their on-field coach.

I like it.
Twal is hard as rock.

I think AD is the long term captain.
But in his absence, sure...

???

Even when Tamou is captain he's only on the field for a quarter of the game. So whoever is the vice captain (assuming that's been brooks) has been the captain for the majority of game time.

Need a captain who is on the field and who is a leader.

I think we need to tie oursleves to AD and Hastings

I'd be happy with Twal. And the Team and AD when AD returns.

Twal is consistent and can drive standards and knows the club

No one on that list deserves to be captain or would make a good one. Tamou has been an absolute flop of a signing.

That's the point.
The lack of senior leadership - i think explains why we ended 14th and some of our big losses

We really need to make sure all of our recruits this year are senior leaders who bring a positive influence

Doueihi and Twal seem the most likely. Hastings is a guy who dragged a scrappy team from nowhere to a league final a couple of years ago, which seems like the kind of leadership this team needs.

I picked Liddle. Seems the most likely to step up.

More likely it will be Hastings or Peachy as Madge seems to like to find a leader that is brand new and has no connection to the club as part of the culture building

Why won’t it be Tamou?

Liddle to me has to be the obvious candidate. He is well spoken, confident and an inspiration the way he came back from the terrible knee injury.

His "leadership" last year was on par with Mbye. I was at the roosters game last year when they scored a couple of quick tries. Most players were congregating in a group, with next no no talk, he was standing about 5m away alone with his head down. I pointed out to my mate and asked if that was the leadership we were looking for when recruiting him.

He pretty much lost me at that point, regardless of what we are paying him.

Don’t disagree with you, but this thread has turned into a debate over something that hasn’t even been confirmed as happening, and that’s a new captain being appointed.

Coming back from repeated injuries is genuinely inspirational. Not being able to pass from dummy half, is not.

Liddle has a lot of work to do to cement his spot int he team let alone worry about captain.

It hurts me to think Tamou may be in the side again come 2022...

The point of the thread is to demonstrate the lack of senior leaders in the team.
