Who Should Be Our Coach Next Season?

sorry - didn't mean to be rude - but yes - you - i don't know how to interpret your perception because of linguistical diversity. What are you trying to say. thats all.

Ok, I guess its just a matter of letting the head coach make tough decisions and if those decisions upset the players then backing the coach rather than the 'stars'.

I think Potter has done a pretty good job given the situation, sure there are weaknesses that need to be strengthened and I think Mick would be aware of what needs to be done.

Whether or not he is allowed to make those changes remains the issue.

If tough choices (especially regarding player retention) are left to the players to green light - then success will be a long way off no matter who has the whistle and clipboard.

What are people's thoughts on Daniel Anderson, he got the warriors and the eels to grandfinals.

Apparently looking to get back into coaching.

Has experience and an ok CV?

Wondering what people's thoughts would be?

I don't mind Anderson , but my concern is he hasn't been a head coach for while and the game changes so much so quickly

The other issue is money , who ever takes the job will be getting paid what a head coach was getting probably 10-15 years ago

What about Leo Epifania ??

He always seemed to be able to get the best out of players with limited ability

Wonder how he would go with some talent ??

It will come down to dollars, no established coach will come near us unless we are willing to pay massive overs. The risks are to great, a couple of bad years at a battling club can sink your career for life, and the really big names would not touch us with a barge pole .

If Potter gets the flick, the next coach will be another pick and pray job. Its like going to the races and punting on 100 to 1 shots, its great when they come off but it only happens once in a blue moon

Ricky Stuart seems to get along ok. with his crappy cv.

No matter how good the coach is he is only as good as his AVAILABLE playing roster. Ricky Stuart had a just average squad at the Sharks, a bog average squad at both the Eels and the Raiders. I am not trying to defend Sticky but its a fact of life you need a strong fit squad of players if you are going to get to the finals.

Iam sure if Potter was at the Storm,Manly,Souths or Penrith they would all be in the position they are now and Iam sure if Cleary,Bellyache,Maguire and Toovey were at the tigers we would still be on struggle street.

@supercoach,have to agree with your post, however if Potter is with us next year which I hope he is,I would love nothing more than an injury free year with these young blokes we have got plus some experienced players..geeze they would give the semis a shake and show the haters that Potter can coach,I said it before he hasn't had much to work with in 2 years the way injuries have hit us and 2nd tier salary caps being used up early..I still have faith on the man….. 😛ray:

Looking at the latest Potter's Preview he seems very relaxed indeed, especially considering the straits his first grade side is in. Make of that what you will.

someone from the forum should be the coach. You can't go wrong. Everyman, woman and his/her dog is an expert.

Ok,
When do I start?

whats your plan?

Sorry guys been busy with individual and team goals and necessary KPI's.

Team Goal: Don't suck - ever
Player goals: Don't suck - ever

Player defensive KPI's: tackle low, tackle high, just bloody well tackle.

Player attacking KPI's: always pass to a player in a better position than you. Preferably a player on our team.

My golden rule: I am the coach. You play the way that I tell you. If not, you're in the reggies. If it happens again, apply for a better position at the local council of your choice.

If I fail, it will be all my fault - not because of player power. To me player power is a brand of golf ball.

Now Happy, do I have your full support?

It's amazing that he is so relaxed. The mental toughness of the man is amazing.
Most people would be a shattered mess given the same situation.

Your too soft CQ

I needed to hear things like

"If any player disagrees its on out the back of the sheds"

"Face slapping before the game is mandatory"

"You will take a bite of the oxen heart before you run out or Les Boyd will king hit you "

"Billy Johnstone is the new strength and conditioning coach " (For you younger folk Billy Johnstone was a hooker for the Dogs in the 80's , a Qlder and ex Australian Middleweight boxing champion )

Trevor Gillmeister is the new tackling coach along with Peter Johnson and Peter Kelly Kelly will help teach the players how to hit high with a close fist and will help with the judiciary explanations as well

You get gist CQ , they do it our way or they spend 8 weeks nursing a broken jaw

That'll learn them

Cheers

Happy Tiger new CEO Wests Tigers

Any questions ?? Didn't think so

Like Ricky at the presso the other day after another Raiders defeat - he looked like a shattered man!

I believe he already knows which way next year will be and is at ease with the situation either way…to be frank the club is not worth the stress level to be honest it is just a train wreck and will be the same next season .It would be better to get out now with the dignity and coolness the guy has shown and will be supported by the media.

Look outside the box and grab a new coach with fresh ideas.

In the QLD Cup, the Northern Prides current head coach has a win percentage of 77% over the last two seasons.

Garth Brennen might be worth a look works under Gus and Ivan and has the Panthers flying in State Cup

If Sheens gets the Dragons gig with Barrett as his assistant, then Mary will be looking elsewhere. He might be worth looking at as he has done a good job since Price was sacked.
