Yes Jackson ...if / when you actually ever become an NRL player ..you might actually understand what the hell he and Johns are actually talking about

Also Jackson you need an ounce of speed to make it in the NRL as a half ...you may want to head down to Aldi when you get back ...keep forgetting you can't buy that type of speed ..test

Maloney says high? What a great player that had an unbridled will to succeed and was very SLOW in the run stakes … rather have skill that can be used in the red zone than pace any day .. Already have a 7 that has pace how’s that worked out !

You are forgetting Maloney played in teams only he chose to play with ie they contained big, fast backs and very capable forwards. At WTs we don't have the players. Adding a snail to a pedestrian backline increases pressure on the few players who do have pace (Laurie, Brooks and Kepaoa if he is back for the start of the season). It also makes it easier for our opponents to nullify those players with pace as there are fewer to mark.

Didnt Maloney say he'd never play at the WTs

Yes he did. He knew his limitations so surrounded himself with the best players in the best teams. I cannot blame him but to compare him to a half playing at WTs is hardly a fair comparison. Maloney also always had a minder due to his problematic defence. Brooks is the minder since Lawrence retired.

I think we just need the best DEFENSIVE coach there is...where can we find such a person to help bring this club back to it's former glory:crown:

Ok all, now that Madge is safe for now who do you all feel should become his assistants for 2022 and what roles do you see them performing?

e.g. Defence coach, Attach coach, Halves coach, Assistant coach etc.

Why not go hard $$ at Ciraldo anyway? We need
an assistant who will connect with players and attract new talent.

I was thinking that today, too. Club’s finances are tops so have money to spend on coaching and support. Ciraldo was saying he was wondering if his message at the Panthers was starting to lose its edge just because of the amount of time he’s been there. Offer him $150K more than he is on at Penrith to come and be an assistant coach at WT and freshen himself up with a new environment and players. He has a good reputation with player relationships and defence so big ticks on what we need. Sell him the idea that we gave some great young talent you can help groom and develop without the stress and spotlight of being head coach. Could attract other young talent to the club. If he can do it well then there is strong option to step up to head coach when things are looking rosier and he feels more confident about taking it on. Low risk, increased salary and plenty of upside for him with a potential succession plan if it suits both parties. If he can’t / won’t take the step in a few years we still get a good assistant coach.

Great ideas , it’s just a shame that nobody currently at this club would have the vision or the ability to sell it. 5 hit ups , kick to the corners and smash em! Hey that’s our coaching, strategy and game plan rolled into one. ?

Lam had Warriors defence going well.

Pretty incredible actually they hardly had any note worthy forwards in that side multiple injuries but yeah they turned up in defence extremely well. As long as he is not asked in anyway to do attacking structures; it may just work.

Hahaha, he was on the field for 29minutes and missed 3 tackles.
I think we need to focus on attack.
It’s attack which builds momentum and lifts the spirit of the team.
Would Don Bradman have been as big a legend if he focussed on never getting out? Would Greg Norman have been a champion if he avoided the bunkers? Defence is built around anticipation, positional play and doing more work than your teammates. Often seen as a barometer of a fired up team.

Laurie? Laurie Daley was supposed to help Madge out when he first came here. NRL blocked it I think.

NRL blocked it due to Daley's link with betting.

Andrew Gray has left the club also, though it was a decision he made midyear. So this (Head of Performance) is another position that will need filling. Anyone have an idea in this area on any possible candidates?

So our head of performance role is a part time job.

It looks like it. I couldn't believe how much stronger Aloiai looked last night

We can only use what we have to our disposal. Defence is Madge’s area of attention. He should focus solely on that and have others focus on attack.
Like Robinson did at the Roosters.
