Mayer reiterated on Triple M this morning we won't be shopping for next year but approach the market for the 2015 season.

He said we will be going to the market hard in 2015 with big signings.

the only thing wrong with what he said is we have to have another shit year waiting till 2015.we
still need to buy a couple of back rowers for next year.

With benji going we should absolutely keep moltzen, as we know the tigers seem to have terrible luck with injuries, can't put all our hopes on brooks/Moses/anasta… We need to keep him u less they can buy someone to cover halves.. Moses not ready next year as he has only played 20s no state cup and has had some nasty injuries past 12 months.. I know molts has too but we really should keep him as back up

So with Benji going it opens the door now for Brooks to get the 7 with Sironen reversing back into the 6 next season. As for back up Mitch Moses and Manaia Rudolph look the best options. Anasta though may get a run at 6 if Potter decides to move Sirro into the back row.

Make no mistake The tigers need a Marquee or 2 to attract others.

In form or not playing on a team with the likes of Beji, Billy slater, inglis etc is a very important part of talent attraction and retention.

Second point.

The Lote recruitment was a turning point for us at the tigers. We were a viable option.

Mayer has already said, our priority is to lock in all our young kids, so dont expect to much in the way of signings for 2014 but next year we will look outside the club to fill positions that need filling.

Smart thinking and unlike some governments, you dont have to spend money just for the sake of it. Save your cash to that elite player comes onto the market who can offer the club plenty.

I hope it is not just early days, but you can feel their is a real good thing happening at camp concord with Mayer and Potter calling the shots

One thing is for sure. Losing Marshall provides the club with a lot of opportunities. With so much money to play with, we need cool heads making sensible decisions.

Do clubs have a marquee player allowance in the NRL? Does anyone know.

Got me thinking if we do, Benji and Robbie probably shared most of it. I hope we offer some to Woods as he will be heavily scouted by other clubs when he's almost off contract. We can build a team around Robbie and Woods.

The club did have an advantage with Benji though i believe of a discount for a long serving player. Which makes me think, was Benji really earning much that was counted towards the cap?? Someone who has better idea of discounts/player allowances may be able to explain it better as I'm not completely sure of things like these.

We need a kade snowden style front rower and a jeremysmith back rower . Is there another Gareth Ellis around once we have some backbone in forwards our backs will kill it .

I would be going after, in no particular order, a front rower, damaging back rower, experienced halfback and a fullback. Cap dependant on tuquri, utai, reddy, bell etc.
Jacob lillyman
Jason toumolomo
Trent Hopkinson
Pat Richards (already signed)
Gives us experience, impact, and a kicking game.
Also takes pressure off juniors in the halves

The value of braith Anasta just went up a notch for us coz of his experience.

If potter feels we have enough experience in the side then time to PROPERLY invest in the juniors.

Todd Payten should be assistant next year

Payten needs to be assistant coach he has done amzing things with the 20's and knows how develop players and not just manage already so called superstars.

I honestly don't know if that's a great idea at this point. Payten is doing good with the young blokes, no doubt. But Potter is 1 year in as Head Coach. Promoting the young up-and-coming coach through the ranks right now runs the risk of upsetting Potter & Co. Given that we've had a couple of years of disharmony, it might be nice to see the Tigers get a couple of problem-free years in before we start shaking the branches again.

One season with a very talented group of kids does not make a great coach, Lamb won numerous titles in the lower grades but it didn’t make him a great NRL coach, give Payten a few seasons to learn his trade and have consistent success then promote him to an assistant role to further his development.

Lot of pressure on the young halves and i cant see us playing both moses and brookes straight away. Hodgkinson could be option for depth along with anasta and wouldnt break the bank.

Hard backrower be great too, but cant see much on the market :/
