After a team loses, any team, a large percentage of people from the coach right down to the fans apportions part of the blame to the poor old referee.
Who would want to be a referee?
Yeah they make mistakes like most of you (not me, I'm better than that). But you know who I blame the most? The coaches.
They want to change the rules every bloody year. When I was a young fella growing up there was hardly a change of rules. OK the 4 tackle rule (blame St George), the one point field goal (blame Eric Simms) but not a lot more. Now there are multiple rule changes EVERY year.
I used to know what a "shepherd" was, now its called obstruction and I have no idea what the video ref decision is going to be? That is the number one fault in our game now. No-one knows what any decision will be with any confidence at all.
I watch a game between 2 teams that I don't like and i get frustrated with some decisions. Then I watch a game with the Tigers playing and I get so damn frustrated and angry it borders on mental.
The refs upset me a lot these days and they shouldn't.
