Why Anasta is playing lock

I've seen potter at two of Brooks games and apparently Farah went the other week too. I think the reason Anasta is at lock could be part of a bigger plan over the next few rounds to put Brooks in and maybe drop sirro to nsw cup as a second rower. Unsure if he has what it takes to be a nrl lock at this age

Or am I crazy?

I think it is more Braith offering to defend in the guts, but still stepping up to first receiver and trying to play general.

Beyond comprehension why you would play OUR most effective Half in 2nd row/Lock … Especially when he is needed in halves the most RIGHT NOW

I dont think Potter can drop Sirro, there isnt a reason good enough. Theres other players that can easily be dropped.. we all know who..

ok…. so name someone in our active roster that can play 2nd row, Fulton to lock, who isnt moonlighting as a prop for us at present? BMM?

Ansasta is trying to step up for us here I think, taking on extra D...

He is trying to make the effort to help there but in all honesty his services in the halves will be more valuable.
I understand we need the grunt upfront but attacking kicks and plays from halves with Koro mowing them down is equally as effective.

With Anasta at lock we appear to be jack of all trades but master of none.

Top post! The team played heaps better when Anasta moved to half before he was injured and Sironen is not really playing that well enough that he cannot be replaced. I really don't understand this selection at all. Anasta is not a tackling machine, he is a playmaker and organiser - even I can see that!

Anasta would be better suited at halfback at this present time , just to take that bit of pressure of Benji and allow him to get some sought of confidence again in his game.

Its a roster issue, simple as that.

Look at our second row options…
Fulton is a moral.... Blair failed so was shifted out, so fit options are Pettybourne, Thompson, Sue possibly, BMM. Fulton pulling the full 80, leaves you honestly with Petty, Bodene and BMM 3 man rotation. Who knows if they will turn up or go full potato, and at some stages they will also have Blair at prop to possibly compound the issues. Potter has dropped BMM, and hedged his bets on rotating Pettybourne and Thompson this week it seems.

You then come to Lock, Fulton could do it well enough, but your still down a second rower, I dont think Sirro has the chops to slot in the hole yet either. Do you drop Sirro and pull a prop back, and put who on the bench? Spence? This is where I dont understand Groat not being promoted.

Potter doesnt have the options at present, we all prefer Anasta in the halves, but going old school ball playing lock is about all we have at the moment, it has to be his train of thought. If it wasnt you would think Fulton would be 13 and Braith 12, where he started the season. It would have only taken say Bell to be healthy and I am guessing Braith would be in the halves and Sirro back in NSW cup. Its rough to string Potter up over this team list when you take it all into consideration.

How bloody hard was that Potter FFS

now we are down 2 props, and Blair gets the full 80 to suck…
who are the 2 bench props to fill the holes you just left?

Spence? i dont think he is even medically cleared after concussion...

Groat and Ava if Potter had some sense

Buchanan and Woods to start

Blair at lock ,has to play tight anyway and his best efforts from Round 1-5 were as lock

Push Blair up after the 1st twenty and sub him for Woods or Buchanan and the bring on Sironen if you like

Its most likely that he is already carrying Sue, Ava and Buchanan all in the prop rotation. Seeing as he has Fulton and Anasta out there, it looks on paper his plan is to straight swap Pettybourne for Thompson each half.

So in essence what you listed robbed us of 2 in the prop rotation, and only replaced one with Groat. Carrying 3 props on the pine also looks to keep the minutes down for Blair who is obviously floundering at present, yet you propose to extend his time, and fill his second row gig with a kid who isnt up to it yet.

It is easy isnt it.

And as I said you can still push Sue and or Blair (or both if you like) into the front row

You've lost nothing in the rotation and in fact have a bigger ,stronger starting line up which you are going to need against the Cowboys as they are not small in any sense with their forwards

i thik our biggest problem is not the players , but how they are being rotated

If you asked most Tigers fans , Blair best football was at lock ,Anasta best game was in the 7 and our best football has come with those guys in those positions

Coincidence ,I think not

While I can see both sides of the argument and admit I was baffled that Anasta was not in at Halfback I have to agree with B&W's assessment. And while I'm not a big fan of Groat based on past performance, where is he?

I don't envy Potters dearth of selection. Here's to a fit team.

What is the point in utilising Anasta in the backrow just so we have an extra man to take off the minutes? When in fact we are throwing away any opportunity at an attacking play by wasting Anasta's kicking game and organising in the halves.

At the present time, Sironen is getting lost in the halves and fails to offer much in attack. He isn't playing badly but he isn't doing much either. Benji will drown Sirro, Anasta will help keep him at bay and is able to put his two cents in.

I just can't understand why the coach cannot see where our players play best but instead decides to settle for mediocre when he could be reaching for exellence.

What you don't seem to understand BnW is that Lock in the modern game play tight , they are basically another prop with a little more mobility

So your saying you are happy for Blair to play prop , you may as well play him at lock

Then have Woods and Buchanan as props

Backrow of Sue and Fulton
7 Anasta
13 Blair
12 Fulton
11 Sue
10 Woods
9 Farah
8 Buchanan

14 Ava
15 Groat
16 Thompson
17 BMM /Spence /Sironen

2 props /2 second rowers on the bench and 4 starters who can step up and play prop

I can't see what your issue is with that side It is more balanced ,has size to match the Cowbees and still has some mobility

We can use Sue to just target Lui all night ,actually even is starting to sound like a game plan ,something we seem to be be lacking for a while
