Why not, sign Carney.

I feel a bit sorry for him, I know it was a pretty disgusting thing to do but he wasn't hurting anyone and it's plain to see he has not grown up. But I don't think the sharks should of sacked him I think a two game ban and a $$ fine should be enough + the embarrassing photo online for all to see….forever!

Not hurting anyone? He hurt his club, team mates, members and the fans. What about the potential loss in sponsorship money? They are already struggling for sponsors and from all reports are struggling due to a lack of sponsorship money.. Which sponsor is going to be willing to support a club with a player who has form and is likely to bring the club bad press again??? The last thing a sponsor wants is their name to be seen associated with bad press…

You have to remember that sharks gave him a chance after his other behaviors. They would have ensured that there was a clause in his contract that would allow them to sack him if he brought the club any more bad press....

It is bad for business to have him stay on at the sharks. Just like it would be bad for business if one of the main players in a corporate business did the same and all of his peers, clients and bosses saw the pics... If it could hurt potential income from current clients and potential clients then the person would be sacked... In this case that is exactly what has happened...

Fair comments WTF, but IMO I believe he should not of been sacked for the photo.

He wasnt.

If he didnt have form (this year and past clubs), he wouldnt have been sacked.

It was the straw that broke the camels back.

The guy is cancer that had to be cut out.

He already had two previous warnings this year, So what else could they do. Just imagine if we signed him the poundings from the Press we would get & how many Sponsers would we loose. NO THANKS.

The NRL should ban him for life after being sacked by three clubs.

Only hope appears to be French rugby.

I can not feel sorry for repeat offenders especially earning $650,000.00 a year.

Aside from the fact that he's done with his chances and the NRL won't have him, even if they did, any club would have sponsors pulling the pin left right and centre if they were to sign him. He's got nobody to blame but himself. I feel for him. He must feel totally humiliated by his actions. Sooner or later, people will realise that technology is a bugger. cameras are everywhere and you can't escape scrutiny. He needs to stay off the booze and act like a man - not a goof ball.

I've been reading these threads on Todd Carney and had to say something. For all you do gooders out their bagging the crap out of him, you should be aware of the circumstances and why a lot of people are on his side, Firstly he didn't piss in his mouth It was a party pose called the fountain it is staged with a water bottle, looks a lot more realistic in a photo than actually in person as a laugh…....as if he pissed in his own mouth c'mon! ......plenty of guys stage the same pose at parties it's harmless fun. and may I add in his own private life between two mates that was never ever meant to be on social media, It was a joke gone horribly wrong that's now ruined his life and career. I feel very sorry for Todd and how harshly his been treated and hope his got plenty of support around him because I'd hate to see another incident like the other tiger boy. His club and both the NRL have done the wrong thing without knowing the full facts, he didn't even get a chance to explain himself, and the media circus that followed just blew it all up out of proportion as they usually do. I hope that's shed some light on Todd, for those of you who continue to judge him for his past think about this nothing ever gets said in the media or off his club or NRL of what good he does only the bad! Glenn

Ok for the sake of argument, let's say it was a water bottle
Why wasn't the first statement out of his mouth, was that is was a bottle? Aussies can appreciate a prank and a joke.
At no time in print or with weidler did he say it was a water bottle. If I was stupid enough to do something like that and get caught I would be desperate to explain it immediately. And completely.

Oh and by the way "bubbling" is genuine, I have seen it and he was caught. He's paying for being a dropkick for years and years.

I don't think anyone cares what Todd does in his spare time or what his group of mates think is funny. From a clubs perspective, on field results are just one aspect of things. The fact is there is a picture of Todd with his prick hanging out, urinating with piss going all over the bathroom floor mind you which is rotten in itself.

Clubs and sponsors are trying to promote to women and children more than ever and they don't want to be associated with photos like that. It's not a good look. I certainly wouldn't want my company logo on his jersey after seeing that.

If you think it's harsh, the Rugby Union boys are dealt with pretty harshly over this stuff, so Todd isn't on his own here.

In fairness, it sounds like rotten luck that the photo even got out, but that was the end result and you can't undo

Despite the intent to keep the photo private, an employee at our company would have been dismissed as they have a responsibility to represent the company both in and out of work hours and something like that would have brought negative brand implications - ultimately, it's Todds responsibility to make sure photos like that are not taken in the first place.

It aint a party matey. He's getting paid a lot of money to represent the club and it's sponsors. A lot of people put in a lot of work to entice people to join a club, come to games and marvel at the spectacle on the field. This obviously brings in the funds to allow the players the ability to do what they love to do and receive the rewards for doing so. He's damaged the brand at a number of levels.

Behaviour on the field is one thing. Behaviour off it is another. People such as yourself need to have a good hard look at what is acceptable and what's not. Children - yes children see this stuff and it's simply not on. Its not acceptable. It's not now, and it will never be. Wake up to yourself.

A few journalists have taken the "won't someone think of the children?" line, and wrung their hands as to how people are supposed to explain this to their kids. Honestly, if you've got children under 6, they can totally relate to getting in trouble for urinating on themselves or all over the floor.

_Dad, why isn't Todd Carney playing for us this weekend?_

_Because he's in trouble for weeing all over himself, like you did that time at Nan's house._

Kid thinks that's hilarious, but learns a valuable lesson in toilet training.

Yeah yeah yeah, heard it 100 times before, did you actually read what I said, it's people like you that jump to all these conclusions without knowing the real facts your a bit harsh. I didn't see you comment on the great things his done for the code, like most people straight to the bad his done, shame on you! I wish the tigers were prepared to give him a go brilliant footballer and would be a asset to the club, because the way the tigers are falling with injuries if we don't get any decent players our seasons over.

He will be remember for his actions off the field rather than on it and it is a shame.

However in any business and the NRL is a business you have to conduct yourself in a professional manner and he did not do that and whilst I would be disappointed that a so called mate has taken the photo and then put it in social media he should have woken up after being sacked from three clubs and knowing that he is a goose on the drink and stayed home.

He has been given enough chances so you need to move on and look after the rest of your life and hopefully he looks back and sees what he could have been.

Carney is living proof there is more to being an nrl player than talent on the field and I would absolutely loathe the tigers signing him even if carney paid them.

Why? What's he done to you? You need to know the real facts before you start whining. What about all the good his done for the code, no mention of that! We need Todd at the Tigers he would be a asset to the club. Where do you want to see the Tigers up their in the eight or down the bottom of the table, the reason I ask is the way the tigers are falling with injury if we don't start to get any decent players our seasons over!

Look I didn't see the interview, but I know Todd was in huge shock and disbelief of what a media frenzy that was occurring of a photo that went viral that he had no knowledge of ending up on twitter. To answer your question their was too much going on for him to even contemplate explaining the photo, how would you feel? Was sacked from cronulla facing possible life ban from NRL all his life about to go down the tubes. Theirs a strong possibility he was told not to say nothing about the photo. He will get a chance to explain himself and what occurred may not happen anytime soon but will happen Ill guarantee you that.

We don't need him at the club. He's proven over a number of years now to be an A-grade douche and that isn't going to change. Sooner he heads off to France the better.

Carney is a serial offender and the sharks had no other choice but to sack him. No sponsor would sign on with Carney still in the team after seeing the"fountain photo". The best thing the club and the nrl could do is to offer him help to deal with his issues( alcohol) etc. And for his sake i hope he accepts it and sticks with it and comes out the other side a better person. He owes it not only to himself but also his family.
