Will Lui get another chance?

Lui 2nd year nrl syndrome??

na… 2nd Year Syndrome is a myth... The difference in young players from thier first to second year is opposition coaches build structured game plans to close them down. I dont see this happening really, so I feel its just his defence and settling into the team with 2 dominant players either side of him. I cheered in the first half when he cut out Benji twice and thought "finally"...

He only missed a couple of tackles yesterday. I didnt class that Locke miss after the kick as a missed tackle, he slowed down the runner and Dwyer should of finished him off. Lui just needs more intent in defence...

If Lui is fit, I'd say he will play. He's certainly got some defensive issues but it's nothing that cannot be fixed. Chris Lawrence would come up with some shocking reads and attempts early in his career on the wing which would cost the Tigers the occasional try but he knuckled down and is one of the best defenders in the centres these days. Lui weighs 90kg, so he's not small for a half but he simply has to start leading with his shoulder and if he gets knocked around, well so be it, he'll be a better player in the future for it.

I liked the way Moltzen was grassing blokes around the legs yesterday and if Lui's arm injury keeps him out this week, then he'll be the logical choice to play half.

I had initially thought that Lui had broken his arm. He was in a lot of pain and it didn't look good. I was surprised that he played on. I would be surprised if he is fit for this week.

I like Lui and think he should be there…..but our run to win the game seemed to evolve when Lui went off and Benji started linking with Moltz.

If Sheens was dropping players, there were forwards that should have been yanked well before Lui.

Injured? Didn't notice….

I thought he was yanked because he was doing nothing.

Come on Kaiser - he was clearly injured just before Heighno got semi-knocked out for a second!

Mate - please watch the game before starting threads of this speculative nature!!!

His ball for our first try to Aysh was a pearler!!!

So why did he play for so long? Even after half-time?
If he was that injured, surely it would have been picked in the sheds at half-time!!!
I watched a stream… not the best detail, so I didn't realise his injury was that 'severe'!!!

Yay for exclamation marks!!!!

Lui was hooked ….when the changes were made there was a different attitude shown by the players ... Benji stepped up by so did others make of that what you will.

Fair enough guys… so this thread's pointless hahaha

No disrespect but I think so. Sheens doesn't really drop players he moves them on. Johnny Cronk is one example as is Skando as Fulton (I think) will be soon.

Hooked or not reports I have heard are talking some nerve damage for Lui so his selection is not guaranteed either way.

All I know is we cannot pair a half with Dwyer at the start of a contest. We need to clone Gareth. A guy who you run at once and than question whether to run at him that hard again

Agree. It's such a shame Dwyer doesn't drop the shoulder in every tackle.

all i have to say is look what happens when moltzen goes to halfback, we start winning!!!!

its obvious people ignore what happens in a game to suit their arguement.

last week Benji was getting bagged for not being in position to kick the winning FG in extra time, despite being back on halfway injured, after setting up the play that got us down the other end. and this week, despite copping a knock to his arm (looked like shoulder to me the way he was carrying it) inside the first 20 mins, there are people hoping he is going to be dumped.

if he is 100% fit, he'll be there

I agree with the comments about Dwyer contributing to the problem. If anything, we should be questioning his position in the starting side because he has been missing as many tackles as Lui. Lui needs to be positioned next to Ellis or Fulton. He defended OK in the finals last year. Was it beside Ellis?

Molzten didn't play halfback.

You're preaching to the blind unfortunately.

Benji played first receiver primarily with Moltzen effectively playing five eight, i feel we look best with this combination . Maybe because Benji gets more ball.

Willow, you for whatever reasons really dont rate Moltzen…..not sure why, but I think we look better without Lui in the halves and Moltzen in there instead.

That said I feel Lui is being harshly treated on here at the momment, he was getting too many wraps early in the year and too much criticism now

Moltzen did not play in the halves last week. Watch closely. Fulton was playing five-eighth from what I saw.

I have to go back and watch again, but I am convinced Moltzen did not touch the ball once in the final 20 minutes on Sunday.

This year Moltzen has not played to his potential unfortunately. I definitely do not have a vendetta against him, I've praised him before and i hope he can recapture the form he was in during 2009, the Tigers attack would definitely benefit.

Unfortunately he's a stop gap centre, and at fullback he does not offer the value McKinnon does. And as much as we debate it, Lui is the number one choice at halfback. Moltzen is simply going to have to put his head down and play his hardest wherever he is selected to play.
