Will Lui get another chance?

all i have to say is look what happens when moltzen goes to halfback, we start winning!!!!

Moltzen didn't move to halfback,Marshall did.Moltzen didn't contribute anything to the comeback,it was all Marshall. Why don't you try taking your pretty boy Tim love goggles off and try watching the game with your own eyes sometime.I still find it laughable that you think every single tigers fan has called for Moltzen at halfback and for Lui to be sacked. You obviously don't get out much

when lui addresses his defence he will be a great half back. just love the way he directs the team around the park. that is a skill within itself. not many can do that. for lui its innate.

I still feel that Lui is under some kind of directive to just catch the ball and pass it to Benji. Since the loss of Lawrence/Tuqiri, Benji has moved away from playing predominately on the left in attack to roaming around the park. This is limiting Lui's opportunities in my opinion.

He is not impressing the armchair critics for this reason. He is not doing anything flash, and he is defending poorly - so most people are going to write him off as a nuffy who just gets in the way. I maintain his kicking 100 times better than Benji's - especially long kicks - however he doesn't get to do it enough because Benji seems to insist on doing it. He can pass just as good as Benji - and he definitely has half as many wayward passes to the ground/grandstand.

Rocks and Diamond Benji needs to sit back a bit and give Lui more resonsibility - only then will he get an opportunity to really prove to us what he can do. And if it turns out to be nothing, than I will be the first person calling for his head.

totally agree centaur - rocks and diamonds benji and robbie too must let him shine more or as you say it give hm more responsibilty - he must do what scott prince did in 2005.

Sheens needs to give up on his Moltzen-fullback experiment.

Just play the bloke at halfback assuming Lui is injured and give him a fair run. When he has actually played in the halves, we've lost 1 game.

Put Moltzen in the 7 jersey and give him the exact same freedom/role as Lui has. Then we'll see some real improvements in his performance.

I just went through the tape of the game.
53m 18s Simona on for Lui and picks up the kick through as he runs on.
53m 57s Marshall at half at scrum, Moltzen at right centre.
54m 32s Moltzen at right centre misses Shaun Johnson, who scores.
62m 04s Moltzen at right centre after penalty tap.
62m 30s Marshall at second receiver.
65m 42s Marshall first receiver to kick for McKinnons try.
67m 42s Marshall at first receiver for 40/20 kick.
68m 18s Marshall at half for scrum.
68m 55s Marshall first receiver from play the ball back to Moltzen at 5/8 or centre.
70m 45s Marshall throws ball back "20 metres" over centre Moltzen's head.
73m 42s Marshall first receiver passes to Fulton, who passes inside to Moltzen.
74m 11s Moltzen at first receiver but ball goes out to the opposite side.
74m 50s Marshall first receiver passes to Simona, Moltzen into dummy half when Simona tackled.
78m 11s Marshall half at scrum
78m 59s Moltzen at 5/8 or centre when ball knocked on by Mannering.
79m 00s Marshall at half for scrum.
I am not anti-Moltzen, but the above suggests to me that he was NOT playing half and he had so little impact in the "last 20 minutes" he was not the saviour some are suggesting.
I do hope that Moltzen gets back to his best, but he is certainly a way from that at the moment.

Think if you replay any game you'll find Marshall takes the ball as first receiver as many times or more than whoever plays half.
That's because he basically has always played as a 7 but worn the 6.
He sees himself (and rightly so) as the go to guy - not Lui.
I don't think Moltzen was the saviour but we sure looked a different team with Lui off the field.
Sheens has picked him again but it must be his last chance.
Simona played ok in the centres so if Lui has another shocker don't be surprised to see him getting splinters again and Moltzen given a roving commission.

Do you truly, honestly believe this is because Moltzen was wearing the #7 shirt?

He has NEVER really played as a proper halfback, more a running five-eighth. What Lui was producing last season was far beyond anything Moltzen has shown at halfback IMO.

I've said it before and I will say it again, I just don't get when people say Moltzen should be our halfback. He has never shown anything that a good halfback should. He doesn't have a kicking game whatsoever. He is not an organiser. Most of his highlights have come from support play, and if you watch closely he only ever runs off Marshall, nobody else.

Somebody posted a video a couple of weeks ago on his highlights, mostly from 2009\. There would be lucky to be two pieces of play out of 20 or so that would be something you would expect from a halfback.

Come on - he couldn't direct traffic in a one horse town.
Farah and Marshall run the show full stop and at the moment Lui has slowed down so much he's getting in the way.
The only part of his game that is innate is his defence - it is innately hopeless.

interesting, i actually feel this is the area that he struggles with, i reckon he has attacking talent, but is a little individual, and given his half partner in benji is also that way, i reckon they dont combine all that well.

i think his defence will improve, just like benji, soward and a million others have as they have got used to nrl.
