Not sure of the question? My comments were about certain pro-HBG forum members talking about threats to the Balmain JDRL funding.

That's what I want to know. Was pulling funding a threat from HBG, or comments from the forum.

Wests Ashfield wouldn't do it because we know how 'old-Magpies' centric they are, and 1/3 of the teams in BDJRL are from the old Western Suburbs junior rugby league: Concord-Burwood, Enfield, Five Dock, and Strathfield.

Doesn't matter whether it's inconsiderate, it's true.

All those aspiring young players coming through, they actually start out as Five Dock RSL or Carlingford Cougars or St Pats Dundas players. Then for a handful of years they play for the Balmain Tigers.

But the real show is Wests Tigers, you want to be picked up by the Wests Tigers pathways and play FG for Wests Tigers. Balmain Tigers are just a step in the junior district process.

And you have been at pains to reiterate, Balmain Junior District is funded by Wests Ashfield. Wests Ashfield absorbed Balmain Leagues Club. Balmain Leagues not longer has premises or assets. Holman Barnes gift Balmain a seat on the Wests Tigers Board out of obligation (and possibly respect) to the origins of the merger.

But where are Balmain Tigers? Apart from the jerseys of 3 teams running around in juniors, where can you point to? The old club is a hole in the ground, the premises are rebranded (the Flemington backup club is called "Markets Club") and you can't vote in Balmain elections any more.

So I'm sorry, as a former Magpies fan you couldn't understand what Balmain was and now is. Balmain is just a brand now with some retro cred. Kind of like Newtown Jets but without the NSW Cup side.

Newtown had benefactors Terry Rowney, and Barry Vining (passed away).

From a Magpies director

Strathfield werent ever Wests juniors...Balmain since they entered about 06

Did Balmain PCYC fold?

Depends when they played first grade.

Don't try and tell us that playing 100 games in 1985 has much reflection on how a modern fully professional first grade club is run today.
Ok so you know more obviously.
If we get you on the board all our problems will be solved by the sounds of things.

I followed up on comments that Wests Leagues fund Balmain.
Plenty of people are saying Wests Leagues hate Balmain and do not spend any money for the good of Wests Tigers.
They are not obliged to fund Balmain and would not do if if they hated Balmain.
My understanding is they do not because they necessarily love Balmain, but believe the Balmain junior reps are an important part of Wests Tigers pathways and I 💯 agree with them.
If anyone else was to buy or take control of Wests Tigers, there is far from any guarantee they will fund the Balmain junior reps or have any care factor if they disappeared and only left us with the Campbelltown - MacArthur Wests Magpies junior reps.

Thanks for *saving* us and subjecting us to 10+ years of failure Allan, you and your fellow and former board members are my heroes…

Maybe you should be spending more time learning how to spell Leichhardt, and less time sharing misogynist memes… It’s not the 1970’s anymore champ.

Just to clarify and without any opinion on the amount. HBG funded Balmain Juniors $170k in 2024 with some clubs getting a grant as well.

You would know the figures much better than what I do, but regardless of the amount it is still an expense that benefits Wests Tigers at this point of time.
