Woods to Bulldogs for 900k GARBAGE.

I don't believe Des Hasler is that stupid. For the reported 900k per season, what does Woods have to offer to the Dogs that they don't already have ? Just look at their forward pack, maybe a bench position. Besides if Woods is worth that sort of money, what is a player like Josh Jackson worth ?
I've never got out of my head a couple of seasons back at Leichhardt against the Raiders, we're up 20 plus halfway through first half, and of course we gave that up pretty quickly, and right on half-time 5mts out from our line Shannon Boyd just ran right over the top of Woods, knocked him totally to one side.
Maybe Des is thinking of starting Pilates classes for his squad, Woods can run that.
Tigers should offer Woods 550k per season, take it or leave it, we could pick up a real handy forward for that money.
I have previously mentioned in my opinion, Woods should not be anywhere near the Origin side, sorry he is just too soft.

I think the Dogs are trying to divert the Tigers attention away from Tedesco. He's who they really want. Think about it, they've offered two of our biggest players huge contracts. Woods being captain they might think we would prioritize him and pay overs, allowing them to offer Tedesco a contract we can't match. Just the way I'm seeing it because I agree with you, he isn't worth that much to the Dogs.

I have to agree about Woods as a player. I never understood how he made it in to the origin team. Every hit up, he lumbers into the defensive line, spins around and looks for an offload. I feel like it's not very often that he hits the line running and looks like busting through.
He's making plenty of metres this year bit I think that's mostly due to his workload.

Bulldogs are linked to Foran, Cronk, Tedesco and Woods.
Latest story is that Des and Cronk have same manager and that the coach new deal was linked to Cronk joining Bulldogs for the same 2 years.

But what the heck even that story came from a journo

I would actually prefer if Woods wasn't pursued , he's a prop a decent one perhaps not the best in the game by any stretch of the imagination. Certainly not worth $900 k i would be very disappointed if we spent that much of the cap on him. Further more he's talk of late in the media hasn't been what you'd expect from a first grader let alone the captain of the club, i heard him refer to the CEO as Pascoe whether you like the bloke or not he's your boss have some respect.

Cronk and Cleary also share the same Manager..FACT :astonished:

I don't think he's worth 900k but the forums gone a bit feral on him I think.
Still one if the best props IMO.

Our team goes backwards the minute he has a breather, he is a very good front rower, not sure he is 900g front rower but he is better than most and plays big minutes

I've said before that Woods is seriously overrated. He lumbers forward at a snails pace, engages in an upper body wrestle, then eventually plays the ball once the opposition defense is sorted. Admittedly, it could be poor coach instructions, but how many times have we seen the Tigers on the boil, only for Woods to be given the ball close to the opposition line and waste a tackle with a soft hit up? METERS are not everything in a forward's arsenal. A really effective prop charges the ball up, bends the line and plays the ball quickly. Woods does none of these things. Basically he needs to fire up and show some aggression! Also, I'll add that I can't imagine him to be a great captain. Too laid back and too inarticulate….in my opinion.
Having said all that, I would like him to stay as he is a solid first grade prop and good bloke. Not sure whether he's a real club man anymore though....The Tigers should put 700 on the table and give him one week to decide.

Good analysis and very true!

I agree with you but I also feel you have to overpay Woods to keep Tedesco. I would be talking to the Bulldogs if they state they won't sign next week to negotiate a player swap. Otherwise Ted to the Roosters with nothing in return. Bulldogs have made Graham, Kasiano, Reynolds available or off contract.

Yep this ^^^ I don't think some of you understand just how valuable a consistently good player is to a team - probably because the team as a whole are never consistently good!

This guy never, ever runs under 100 metres in a game - that's an incredible feat! There are heaps of plodders out there who can barely make 70 metres in a match, then you have the wild aggressive sorts, that everybody seems to love, like Graham & JWH - great when they're on their game, diabolical when they're off and always good for a penalty or three. Then we have the Burgess brothers, big bodies who have had one good season and done sfa ever since.

Meanwhile Woods just goes about his business making more and more ground and putting in the hard yards, while all the others around him are bludging, dropping balls or missing tackles. As for Origin, he has been one of NSW best in just about every series he's played in - don't know what games you people are watching.

Is he worth 900K? Of course not, but then I don't think that any prop is. I think you critics ought to be thankful he is in our team because honestly things would be way way worse if he wasn't there, as is evident every time he leaves the field for a spell.

It's up to the Wests Tigers management to get Woods some decent support in the pack - he can't keep trying to hold this team up on his own any longer!

Two well written posts which I enjoyed reading.

I hope we can hold onto woods and tedesco, these contract issues have been going on way to long but I feel like with ivan as coach they will be cleaned up and the club can move forward and build on what we still have.

Ivan is what the WT needed and I am actually excited to see what he does with the team over the next 3.5 years.

If it's true and Woods(bulldogs)wants us to match/better it I would say take the money. We can't offer that. As a bonus it would stuff up bulldogs plans for Teddy and free up even more money to go to the market with

The bloke has long hair and when he runs his hair isn't even catching the wind. It should be flowing like a horses mane down the straight at Randwick.

His only asset is that it's hard to get him to the ground. We don't need a wrestling stats pig.
