World cup

Would have thought a penalty was sufficient punishment for a trip. It's not like it is that dangerous to the player being tripped, like a swinging arm or pile driver…

Dunno about that Juro.
A swinging arm or pile driver certainly does far more damage but they can happen accidently in the heat of the moment due to poor technique at exactly the wrong point in time. A trip is a purposeful attempt to bring a player down outside of the rules. It is essentially a form of cheating in a way.

I havent seen the incident though…does it look like he stuffed a tackle up or was it a deliberate act because he had been beaten?

I didn't notice the trip when it happened live. Don't think the commentators did either. From memory, it was a case of Sue getting beaten by the other guy and then throwing out his leg because he couldn't reach him with his arms. It was about the 20m line, so he would have been pretty desperate to bring him down.

Yes, he broke the rules of the game, but I still see it as an on-field penalty rather than something deserving suspension. You don't get suspended for other infringements like being offside.

this French fullback has some zip

He was a nippy little critter. The French played with plenty of ticker, Samoa tried to smash their halves out of the game but they still kept coming. Full credit to them. It was a great game to watch, especially the first half.

Masoe and Ben Roberts deserved to get suspended more than Sue did IMO.

French 1 was quite good, an nrl club might take a stab at him and purchase him. Not us obviously, but sharks or dragons could use some depth. Wouldnt mind seeing his wight first though, might be too light for NRL.

Wouldn't weigh any less than Hodgo you would think. Not sure if the French fullback would cut it in the NRL but he was an elusive runner of the ball for sure. Their hooker was a tough little bugger too.

yeah their hooker was quite good too. They have a half decent side and had a real go against the Samoans.

Their halves certainly have heart, the way the Samoans were trying to smash them out of them game, I reckon a lot of other players would have gone into their shells.

Probably France's best game.

Sue succesfully appeals.

An International Appeals Tribunal has lifted the one-match suspension handed down to Samoa player Sauaso Sue for tripping in the 58th minute of a Rugby League World Cup 2013 fixture against France on Monday.

Sue was successful in his appeal after the Tribunal ruled that whilst he did make contact with French player William Barthau’s leg, there was uncertainty as to whether it was deliberate or intentional…...............

And Robbie has been dropped for the USA game

Very disappointed in that call , hope Fifita trips over and elbows Sheens in the head (repeatedly )

I think it's the right decision,

Robbie whilst good, dce has been better.
Robbie was no where near as effective as I thought he would be around the ruck, as Isaac Luke has been this World Cup.

I wouldn't swap Robbie for another hooker but if I'm coach, I think dce is on my bench as well.

why disappointed?

Because I believe Australia get more from Robbie being in the squad than DCE

But then again , I believe we need to get a more backs orientated utility player with no Luke Lewis in the squad

Robbie will only be playing the role the DH coach gave him

So if Sheens isn't happy with Farah's performance he only needs to look in the mirror to see who's fault it is

But then again he probably wouldn't see a thing , he is a blood sucking vampire , he sure as hell sucked us dry and still continues to feed

hayne to play right centre.

i just dont get this.. we have three centres- two of them most likely the best centres in the NRL this year yet sheens picks a player out of position- a position he has never played before.

i love hayne but that's just stupid.
