Didn't him and another former NRL player get charged with manslaughter for belting a bloke. Could have this totally wrong but I'm sure I read it here somewhere.

I don't think the other person with Field was a former NRL player, but yes one of the two struck a person, resulting in his death.

Gee whiz, what a disgrace. Anyone know if Field is serving time currently (imagine he would be)?

Is this a gee up, Demps? Surely you have to be kidding?

Nick Bradley- 'Whatever' would have to be close. I can't remember a thing he did on the field. Nick Graham turned out to be a dud that's for sure, but he was actually quite a good player with the Sharks prior to coming here, much like Sam Harris and O'Hara.

Can't believe people are choosing Fitzy though. He could be annoying at times and maybe he did play on a bit too long, but he was far from the worst. He was also our top try scorer for how many years?

Based on the collective wisdom of this forum, Daniel Fitzhenry is either a shoe-in to be the next immortal or an unco-ordinated buffoon who owed his continued selection to a set of incriminating photos he had of Tim Sheens. The truth (IMHO at least) lies somewhere between the two - i.e. he was a solid servant of the club whose continued selection during his later declining years was not his fault.

Fitzhenry by a mile.

He was actually so bad that he got a cult following.

For a long time I couldn't stand Fitzhenry for many years and would always be critical of him. But I will say that towards the end of '05 he was a very solid performer for us and was integral to us winning the premiership IMO, as much for his role as a bloke who was great for team morale (many of his teammates from that side often spoke about this) as for his ability to score a try (he did score plenty of good ones with his speed).

Man….didn't he cop some abuse in this forum at times!!!!!!!! Sheeesh, he was the Moltzen of his era

Joel Caine. One yr wonder. From 2001 onwards offered nothing

Thats pretty harsh -

Was a more serviceable Fullback than the more heralded Matt Seers During darker times, and until Hodgo ousted him in 2005, held the point-scoring record for the Wests Tigers for a single season.

He wasn't a world beater, but certainly not our worst.

Just some casual off season banter. **Now the player may not necessarily be the worst**, as they have to atleast have some form of talent to be playing first grade, **but who is the most average player** you have seen play NRL for the Wests Tigers in their 13 year history?

These posters on here having a whinge about others picking Fitzhenry, can you actually go back and read the question posed by the OP and not just read the thread title. Without a doubt Fitzy was the most average player to milk out a career here. There have been numerous players probably close to 50, Harris, O'Hara, Graham, NBQ, Black, Murphy, Airs, etc etc etc that have played for this club that have been worse then him but he was definitely the most average NRL player i have seen to get a gig week in week out and just offering nothing….oh thats right, someone suggested he had pace?? nobody remembers his pretzel runs i guess. oh and he played a good 3 or 4 games in 2005, which of course results in being picked to play 24 games a season for the next 5 years and all is forgiven for his pathetic efforts all those games prior to a good 3 or 4 games in 2005.

GNR mentioned John Wilson, i reckon anyone with any knowledge of footy players or a memory would have to agree he was a terribly unlucky player to be stuck behind the cult hack known as Fitzy.

Nah mate it was euphemistic … 'Average' here is definitely meant to mean 'the worst' ... The only qualification made was the fact that anyone who's made first grade is a fair footballer to begin with.

I do like your tying of the letter of the law definition of 'average' to our favorite trundler Dan Fitzhenry however ... He was an Andrew Johns + Willie Newton, divided by two kind of player.

I know their are a lot of Daniel Fitzhenry haters out there but if you watch the 2005 GF enough times you will realize he turned the game back our way with a magical run that set up our second last try

For that reason alone he should be crossed off everyone's worst lists imo

Jackson Kaufusi hands down.

Me and my mates used to love old Jackson (or Makasini Richter as he was later known), to the point of making a huge banner to take to a trial against Parra. He had plenty of talent but was very inconsistent.

I remember he was involved in a fight once and took a massive swing at someone. Lucky it didn't land as it could have taken someone's head off.

Wow guys - one of my favourite topics. In rough order….

John Carlaw
Lee Murphy
Nick Graham
Trent Runciman
Warren Carney
Luke Isakka
Balin Cupples
Glenn Air
Jason Moodie
Matt Jobson
Sam Harris
Peni Tagive
John Carlaw

I know i have mentioned Carlaw twice but I felt he needed to be there twice

Masterton, Who did Harvey Howard win a premiership with?
\

and coopy, Who is Warren Carney? I have no memory at all of that name, the others are pretty famous for….well, threads like this.

yeah fair point, i can see how you read it that way. i read it as being the worst and then he goes on to say just average player. **"Now the player may not necessarily be the worst"**
Either way i clarified in my posts several times that Fitzy wasnt the worst but the most average. Someone start a topic for the most average player and he should be at the top of that list hands down.

Brisbane in 2000\. Deserved better then what the Magpies were in the late 90's. Under-rated in the extreme

Well I have 2 memories of Action Jackson. One was him taking a haymaker (possible the same one you saw) at a marker that was at best a total over-reaction. The other was him making a rare linebreak only to throw a 5m forward pass when trying to draw the fullback. He had a decent debut and it was downhill from there. Pretty much everyone who plays first grade has some talent but Kaufusi very rarely displayed anything like that early promise. At one point I think we went 0-10 in games he played. Not blaming him but Christ he was poor most weeks!

Anyone that has a issue with Fitzy can go sit on it !!! He was on of our best players in 2005 and the hardest trainers during his days at the tigers !!
