Worst Player To Play NRL

2001-2003 we were so poor, many players were so far from nrl level it wasn't funny.

Someone mentioned Cragie, as a junior was sooo amazing, looked like he'd be a superstar, very disappointing

In the NRL Jarred Anderson for cronulla is hard to beat.

The the tigers it would have to be owen Craigie for me. Always looked overweight an uninterested which was a shame as he had talent.

Nick graham was terrible. And looking through the list of plays from 2000-2003\. There were too many to pick. Action Jackson was always a cult hero.

Those first four years were horrific. How about listing players from that era that were good players, we didnt have any superstars but we had some good honest footy players (actually some great young'ns did debut late 2003, Benji, Robbie, Fults, Gibbs) - ill start the list with just 2000 players, see if you agree or disagree with me. Add to the list and add further years if you wish.

In 2000 we had 34 players debut for the Wests Tigers!!! I reckon this is the pick of the bunch.

Skando
O'Neil
Galea
T. Smith
Hill
Senter
McCracken
Caine
Hopa (although a d'head he was a good player)
Kevie McGuinness
Shane Walker
Georgallis
Seers
O'Donnell

16 players debut in 2001 for the Tigers
8 players debut in 2002 for the Tigers
16 players debut in 2003 for the Tigers

74 players went through our jersey in 4 years, that is unbelievable.

sam harris in 2006

Ill never forget being so fired up in the pre season of 2006\. We had just won the Comp, it looked like the start of a Tigers dynasty….we had some pretty good buys in the off season too. Harris was a monster for Manly and O'Hara was a rep player.

On paper I had our forwards as -

8\. Skando
9\. Farah/Halatau
10\. O'Hara/Laffranchi/Payton/Gibbs/Galloway
11\. B. Galea
12\. S. Harris
13\. Fulton/Rhino

But that was the problem, on paper that forward pack was fantastic. And then O'Hara and Harris turned out to be fizzers. Gibbs and Galloway were also pretty young and a bit off the pace with the other NRL big boys at the time which didnt help our season that year along with our injuries across the park.

I would love to have 5 recognized props, plus another 2 that could play prop (Harris and Laffranchi) in the top 25 again! ahhhh well.......

I'd add Mescia, Lowrie, Leuluai, Villasanti to the 2000 List.
Shayne (Shane) Dunley wasn't a "Bad" Player either

For us, Covell was average but he carved out a very honest career on the wing for Sharks. Definitely wouldn't mention him in this thread IMO.

From what I remember he played Aussie Schoolboys for 3 years in a row. Was an amazing talent early on. Could have been anything.

As for this thread, I find it pretty nasty for a bunch of 'never were's' to put crap on guys who actually made it. Doesn't sit quite right for me.

Mate someone runs last at the Olympics too. No one claims they aren't a great runner they are just the worst of the race. That's the point of this thread and the original poster even points it out. I think overall this thread has been fairly respectful no player has been bashed especially compared to the numerous other threads that have critised and often gotten personal against players.

Playing in the NRL is an achievement that any player should be proud of but ultimately some players are better than others, or do not reach their potential for various reasons. That's the point of this thread.

Don't necessarily agree Nick Graham was a handy player at the Sharks , but when he came to the Tigers he left his heart beat at home and showed no respect for the jersey

I can cope with the blokes that lacked ability but showed up every week and gave THEIR best

The worst Wests Tigers player should be the player with the worst work ethic ,ability, accountability and attitude

The one player who lasted way oonger than he should have, was Ian "chook" Herron at Saints (Tigers/Eels) on the wing. Again, was only there for his kicking.

Lol that brought back some memories. My cousin was going out with him while he was at saints. A real tool off the field.

Daryl Halligan was another who milked a career out of being a goal kicker, particularly in the latter stages of his career with the Dogs

Hard to argue against that. He was good for the sharks but just didn't have the attitude here. A lot of the team throughout 2001-2003 lacked in talent but often had good attitude in game day. For a team lacking any genuine stars they often put in a great defensive performance and had a dig for each other. We seem to have reversed that situation last season.

For someone who had a long career but was crap, I think Daniel Wagon takes the cake. I was always confident of a Parra loss when he was at five eight.

Hoping we don't have a repeat of this scenario with Adam Blair! I'm still not convinced we will see anything good from him at WT.

Whoever says D Fitzhenry is a clown with no idea. Fact is DF was forced into a role that he wasn't capable of playing. When he 1st came onto the scene he was a lightening quick player with more pace than the average player. I personally remember him absolutely dominating the World 7's. Pace off the mark was serious and he was a batter ball player than the average winger. The fact that Shines had a man crush on him and played him out of position shouldn't bring him into this argument. Look at John Morris….. Exact same thing. Decent player played out of position and made to look below average because of it. Nothing to do with his own choice but that of a coach who doesn't believe the 7 is a specialist position

As was mentioned in the thread title; all players who make their way into first grade have at least some talent beyond that of a player who doesn't. This is true in most cases except where nepotism plays a part. Therefore, Shannon McDonnell is my answer.
