Whilst I admire the club bringing in Richo to try and turn things around, the Wests Tigers need to just put a team in the NSW Cup (to appease current fans) and give their Licence back to the NRL where they can allocate a new licence to e.g.a QLD Cup side or another identified side from NZ, WA or Papua New Guinea etc. There are far too many sides from Sydney and surely Tigers supporters are so tired of seeing their club ridiculed in the media year after year as a result of officials making decisions bordering on lunacy.
Watching the WESTS TIGERS play in the NSW Cup would be more enjoyable where they may perform better and make finals (though not a given). If I were Wests Ashfield I would make a board decision for 2025 and refuse any further funding of the team in the NRL1st Grade.
Maybe private ownership is the only way out?
I am fully aware this post is full of negativity and supporters on this site are loaded with positive thinkers, but surely I am not the only fan who has finally put up the sign "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH "!

G'day Bugsy... I agree with you that there are too many teams in Sydney.
How do you feel about Wests Tigers moving out of Sydney proper and decentralizing west to Campbelltown for all our games? That way we could truly be the 'Wests' Tigers.
Atm our Club feels more like Balmain Tigers with the Leagues Club and COE being located where they are.

You made no mention of the fact that Wests Magpies already play in the NSW Cup, but you want to see Wests Ashfield make a board decision to not seek funding for 2025 and simply hand back our licence and then apparently for Wests Tigers to compete against Wests Magpies in the NSW Cup.
Or maybe you are suggesting that the Magpies be scrubbed from history and just disappear from the NSW Cup and the NRL completely to be replaced by, Wests Tigers?

Somehow, I don't feel that will ever happen due to the fact that the Magpies hold a 90% share of Wests Tigers, and with all things being.............fair, wouldn't/shouldn't that give the Magpies a decisive and deciding voice?
Then, if we were to hand back our licence as you have suggested, wouldn't it be fair after that, that our club be then known as Wests Magpies?

Maybe you need to rethink your suggestion Bugsy, as I reckon the "loaded with positive thinkers" will pick up on this and agree with you that your post is indeed "full of negativity".

They’d rightfully ask “who the hell are they “ and “why would I go for a bird that swoops me every spring” . Because that’s how kids think with no attachment .
I know it’s hard for boomers to look outside themselves , but you know the kids who will pay for everything in 10 -20 years , don’t have a clue who your team is .

Norths was an increibly strong club.

Newtown, I still see their jerseys around.

Neither though is stronger now.
The Jets are mainly marketing.
Norths are just a reserve grade team and a little more. ..

Wests and Balmain, would probably have been worse off for very different reasons.

Balmain was in serious financial troubles. They couldn't even sustain the joint venture contributions. Fans are strong, and loyal... but the football team would have been bankrupt.

Western Suburbs Magpies. Why you would have seen Tommy coach the side for a few years. Some players make first grade elsewhere and the clubs trickle in small donations to keep the team afloat.

Nothing to cheer about at all.
 
So the EOI has been out for a while so the selection process must be in full swing by now. Any news on when the board are considering the shortlist?

Fortitude Valley in the Brisbane competition. I can still sing the song and name the 1972 team. I was a big fan of Marty Scanlan, who was the five-eighth.

My uncle Ross Richardson. He played rugby league for Wide Bay and Beaudesert and got me involved in the sport. He was also the president at Beaudesert and got me excited about administration as well. I made my debut in first grade with him at Beaudesert.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

I wanted to be a lawyer. I got into law at Queensland Uni and then after the first six months I thought this was not for me. I transferred to Commerce. The rest is history.

Anthony from The Wiggles. He is a made Tigers fan and good bloke. I love his motto in life. One word — fun!

What’s at the top of your 2025 wish list?

That’s real fame.
MM’s problem is he originally followed Balmain.
