WT Player Recruitment & Retention for 2021

Twal proved he is not a lock this year. The fact he is now pretty much our only option is not something to get excited about.

I’d be playing Lucy at lock...he runs just like TPJ and has some nice passing skills too....however if Blore isn’t up too starting then we are in trouble

Updated to show Roberts joining.

Two spots left, assuming Seyfarth re-signs.

For mine, our last two spots should be a second rower and a decent fullback. Would be great if Laurie can obtain a release.

If Aloiai is released, another decent second rower or pacey winger would be preferable as well.

As has become tradition, following on from the 2019 & the 2020 threads, here is the 2021 thread for recruitment and retention. Given the late finish to the year and the fact that the NRL have not established next years cap amount yet, obviously we have a potentially great deal of movement in the market to happen yet but I’ll add to it as we go.

Can't see any real game breakers here.
Agree will be another clean out at least we are not signing players on long term contracts.
Josh Aloiai - Keep him and he can be a bench player when required, Hard Coach Hard Club should be the expectations now with players trying to break contracts.

Didnt he carry a sternum injury most of the year? Some on here said it is very painful and hard to heal. Was good in 2019.

The sternum is one of the worst things to injure.

If you've had a sternotomy (basically when they saw your ribs open,) you are basically useless for about 8-10 weeks. Can't drive, can't lift things, can't do anything.

Now obviously a sternotomy is the worst case scenario, but I could imagine that a cracked sternum would prove to be as troublesome and if you're a first grade forward where front on collisions with other 100-120kg humans can happen up to 60-70 times a game dependent on how many carries and tackles you make, it could hamper healing.

Interesting. Maybe as supporters we should not be so hard on him.

If you're playing with a cracked sternum, or recently healed sternum you might be a little ginger. That's on the coach to ensure his players are recovered from problematic injuries like that though.

I think this is old news now?

TIGERS SET TO RE-SIGN ROOKIE

The Wests Tigers are set to re-sign promising forward Alex Seyfarth for 2021, according to NRL.com.

The 21-year-old made his NRL debut in Round 3 and went on to play another three games.

It’s a timely boost for the Tigers who just endured the messy exit of well-liked forward Josh Aloiai.

Seyfarth has represented NSW’s under 18s and under 20s squads and is on track to have an outstanding career.

He took up a player option to stay here in 2021 so yeah would assume he’s staying. He’s done his ACL too so probably wouldn’t get an offer anywhere else

Kevvie won't do anything to jeopardise his contract at the Broncos Billy's no super star just a solid footballer and I think it be exceptional circumstances to be signed by Bronco.

As i said in previous posts ,only12 players signed after 2021.We will have a completly different side in 2022. 2022 will see the eye of the TIGER.GO -MADGE.
