WTF – Wests Tigers Faithful Podcast

Guaranteed at junior level a lot of this is still done by word of mouth and parents in postions of power promoting their juniors. Sending tapes to development officers is just the way of the wold now.
Yep most of it is parent and fan driven hype from what I’ve seen.
I’ll never forget a couple of years back I was in Canberra for work and decided to stay the extra day and catch the Wests HM and SG Ball teams play. There was good hype on these teams and players on here and I was interested to see what was coming through.

The HM side contained L Laulilii, Karnib, Large, Isdale, Keppie, Godinet and Clarke.
The SG side contained Mason, Saukuru, Galvin, Miller, Da Silva, Faagatu, Clarke and K Laulilii.
All these names were recognisable to me due to the WTF hype train and I have to say….only Laulilii at fullback and Da Silva were worth a pinch of shit on that day.
Both teams were atrocious and the Raiders sides barely raised a sweat whilst flogging both of them.

It would be a difficult job being a talent scout as everyone has an opinion and most of them are overblown at the least.

The amount of bloviating on here about the talent in the junior ranks and the Immortal level super stars we have coming through is why the Tigers have fielded most of the Australian and state sides and have been premiers for the last 9 years running.

Great interview with Shannon Gallant

Well Done Boys and Well done WTs

I was so impressed by the fact that our club has 2x Feeder systems and that the Wests Tigers are creating A CULTURE where young players aspire to play for the Wests Tigers.

Every body needs to listen

Another great pod @jrtiger & @poopy_diaper .

Yep that James Lanyon in Balmain Harold Matts has some ability (signed on with us for 3 seasons)!

His brother Josese who I believe turns 21 this year is signed with us for 2 seasons too, this year in Flegg. He's a hooker/lock utility type from the Bulldogs pathways and played open grade for Merrylands last season.

The talent within the Wests Magpies in particular over the past 3-4 years is a breath of fresh air when you consider that prior to that most of their teams finished very close to the bottom. Not because there is no talent within the Liverpool-Campbelltown-MacArthur region, but because they had no money to spend and prevent their best talent constantly being poached by richer clubs such as the Eels, Bulldogs, Roosters, Rabbitohs, Panthers, Sea Eagles etc
So the fact the club is now in a position to retain most of its best talent from this region is certainly something to be celebrated.
The Balmain catchment seems to constantly shrink due to the changing demographic, however it’s still very beneficial for Wests Tigers to keep them as strong as possible and try and retain the best talent from this region also.

Poddy is live. We sat down with Tim and Noah Johannssen for an extensive interview and got to know em. Good times. Check it out on Spotify, Apple Poddies and YouTube etc.

Another fantastic pod guys. Love your insights into the junior reps and interviews with players & coaches.

The Johannssen bros are so refreshing, guys like this are just adding to the revitalised culture of the place, they are so authentic. Some good intel from them about fitness standards & who is carving up in both NRL & Cup training too. Recommend everyone have a listen before Sunday's trial.

Keep it up fellas!

Damn. You got me there. It seems like to me that all the smart people are doing podcasts. I was thinking of all the dumbest people on the forum. Cause they seem to get more followers. Dont take my word for it. Just look around you. I would be the first to volunteer. In all seriousness C.

It would be great to listen to the original pod that formed here again.
Yes. We could have 3 Balmain people, 3 Wests people - and 3 people that laugh at the first 6 cause they are blind. Football is a religion now. Some excitement Cohise. Big following. We could be influencers. Hell. We couldn't do worse. Cohise. I hear you.

I could never connect with GEO. I tried my best to communicate with him but he never liked me. Maybe that's why I never heard of the podcast. On the same token - I never disliked Geo - just I like I dont dislike any of you. Can you imagine me Cochise arguing about young kids (wests tigers in this case) over my own kids. You would have to laugh at me. But yeh - I hear you. Geo. He's not dead. We feel him here. He never left. Just a podcast of dumb people. Real people. Like this forum.

Firstly love the pod lads. I am sure Shannon was just keeping his cards close to his chest but when he said we don’t recruit from outside of our region was extremely alarming, in fact if that is the case that is scouting negligence and whoever made that decision needs to either change that rule or change clubs. The Panthers are rated to have the best juniors but their scouts are everywhere. I am sure he was only saying we don’t go to Queensland carnivals to recruit as to not give to much away but I found it very concerning if that is true

To quote richo on James Graham

'It's not that we aren't going to recruit, we're not going to recruit for ball and matts. We might bring in 19 year olds, 20 year olds,...'

Listen to the whole section its all there,

Great listen as always! Really cool to hear from the brothers. Both seem to be determined and have found that motivation and competition amongst themselves to drive a high standard. Big years ahead for both of them!
