Your most unpopular opinion about league

Get rid of State of Origin. Focus on and work harder at improving club game.

Agree - if they are going to play SOO in Melbourne or somewhere else other than NSW or QLD - get rid of it.

It has nothing to do with anyone else. If they want to promote RL, come up with an alternative.

SOO should be non negotiable.

Not sure if this will be unpopular, but I absolutely loathe the zero tackle restart. Several reasons:
1) It doesn't do what it's meant to. The idea was to encourage attacking play by introducing effectively a penalty for 'negative' kicking dead, but in fact all it does is make teams more conservative in attack.
2) It's palpably unfair. Drop a ball just short of the try line, the oppo gets a normal set starting with a scrum on 10m. Drop the same ball over the line, zero tackle set 20m out. If you put a lot of pressure on a team and end up having a video ref multiply reviewing grounding, you really don't deserve to see all that pressure evaporate if you didn't quite ground the ball.
3) It's obvious why it's never criticised: because it creates more attacking opportunities and thus more excitement. Who cares if it's unfair, if it means more sets ending in attacking positions rather than in midfield? In which case, why not just start all sets on 20m and zero tackles? Or half way?

The annoying thing is there's an incredibly obvious fix out there that no-one discusses. If the idea of the rule change was to stop defensive kicking, just make it so it only applies to kicks from outside the 20m or 30m line. That way you take kicks dead on purpose out of the game but don't penalise genuine attacking kicks.

I guess in theory a team leading narrowly in the final minutes that gets close to the opposition line would just kick dead. But they do anyway - just to the touchline. That's a slightly higher degree of difficulty kick than just booting it through the in-goal… but it's hardly a major element of the game.

I’m in total agreement. I can’t stand the 7 tackle rule as it currently stands

I think I posted here about re-instating the old 5 yard protection rule that a player enjoyed after catching a kick on the full in his own quarter - maybe it was so unpopular that it was deleted???

get rid of the video ref.
its a bore.
did he ground it,was there a hand under the ball,ya dah,ya dah,ya dah.
have the ref make an on field call and if its wrong, suck it up.
and he doesnt ref first grade the next week.

Not sure if these are that unpopular but here goes…..:

1\. Fans shouldn't be allowed to wear another teams jersey to games where that team is not playing. For example if it's Tigers v Manly, someone wearing a Parra jersey should not be allowed in.

2\. If your team losses, you shouldn't be allowed to wear your team colours until the following Wednesday. For example, we beat Manly and the next day someone is out shopping with a Manly jersey on!. To me, you lost that right when your team lost.

3\. I hate the "double cheer". You know when the other team scores and the fans go crazy and then it goes to the video ref, gets awarded and then they get to cheer again. You should only be allowed the one cheer.

4\. Players who become "commentators" shouldn't be allowed to commentate on games involving teams that they have played with for at least three years. They give a biased view that takes away from the game. For example, Braith Anasta on the Tigers, Lockyer on the Bronco's etc.......

It looks out of place.

Lol I think you're trolling. As a neutral fan you should be allowed to wear your team's jersey.

My question is why would you want to? People who wear their team's jersey to a game between 2 totally different teams look like fools, who have turned up to the wrong game.

What if the game is played in a neutral / country venue ??

Makes no difference, still stupid. I'm sure they could find something else to wear

Nah…wear them at the game your team is playing in or wear them around the shops or whatever, but not at a game involving two totally different teams! It looks stupid - why not just wear jeans and a t-shirt?

Its your point of view and that's cool Spud , but I wouldn't feel into a game if I couldn't show who I supported and at least fans would understand why I supported a particular side

My friend always threatens to wear his Rabbitohs jersey to the Wests Tigers games i invite him to but he is never brave enough to go though with it.

The SS would love a recruit with this sort of idealism….and South Sydney would too. Bloody hell Bwaiff is the biggest Wests Tigers detractor you will find, let alone being in any way biased towards our club in his commentary. We made him buy his own Gatorade after all..... Po' Bwaiff

Imagine if Sam Burgess eye gouged Jake friend…hed cop 8-12 weeks

But not Daly Cherry Evans...no, hes OK, MRC deemed it nothing

How crooked is this game?
Several times per year I wonder why I give them my hard earned
