It's a couple of weeks away, but now that the trials are done, I'd roll with this side:

Yeah, you're probably right Happy. I do think Ava is better suited to handle the early grind than Marty at this points, so yep, swap them and we're sweet.

I'd love to see Ava getting more minutes and more touches

He has quality yards in him with every hit up

I'd also love to see Taylor really try and work with him getting an off load in him as well

I think your on the money Willow but I think Buchanan for Santi would give us better impact and even though I don't agree,if Halatau is fit I think he would get the nod as the utility

I think youve got the right 17 there TigerBob, the lock position and who starts is the only position up in the air. Taupau, Santi or Halatau?

If we are serious and going on form though Ava needs to start, he is shaping up massively for this year and is my most improved already.

Also anyone without Lodge firmly in their 17 needs to check themselves, he is a beast of a kid.
 
I want to see Marty Tapau in 13

Lets be clear, My expectation for round 1 s a WIN up on the Gold Coast
 
The right edge backrower is the trouble spot for me.
Looks like Sue will get first crack at it but I've gone off him. Was expecting big things from him a couple of years ago but he hasn't improved his deficiencies at all. Still drops the ball too much, still misses one on one tackles too often and is still giving away penalties.

I reckon Santi could be better if Taylor is looking for both backrowers to play close to 80 minutes.
 
I personally would stick with Sue. Santi makes for a good 13 as he has a good motor and works hard in the middle of the field. Halatau will probably be there somewhere but I would not have him in my 17.

My concern with Sue? a lot of shirt grabbing in defence. No problem in his carries.

I think that right backrow spot is an issue as well. I wouldn't have Sue there either and I'd probably drop him back to State cup. At this point I wouldn't have Santi either.

Halatau might slot in there. Maybe Sitaleki. Maybe Lamar.

I think Willow's side is almost there for mine, as are most. It really is just the back row in contention.

I would have

11\. Sironen
12\. Taupau
13 Santi

14 Ava
15 Lodge
16 Buchanan
17 Halatau

I think most are in agreement with the bulk of the side - it is only personal preference for the back row.

Don't think I have seen so many " Forumers " agree on on so much since I have been on here.
 
Someone who i thought was impressive was Asipeli Fine, he might not have done enough to force his way into the top 17 and i dont think he is quick enough to be an NRL centre but he ran some tough lines and was strong and reliable in what was more a second row role.

If you were looking for a bench back rower he outplayed Funaki and Liolevave
 
Same as Willow - as modified by Happy with Marty coming off the bench. I wont be pleased if Halatau somehow finds himself in the 17, but that seems likely.
