Your team for round 1 2011

I honestly want to no what some of you people are on. I went on Last Saturday night to the foundation cup game and I thought Utai was outstanding. First time they kicked to him he caught the ball on the 20 and got it back to halfway by running straight and hard. Instead of our usual wingers running sideways and surrendering. Farah made plenty of breaks off his quick play the balls. He never made no bad defensive reads I think alot of people on here dont like him and are very narrow minded about there views on him.

Um, no. First time they kicked to Utai was a cross field kick which he knocked on cold and gave the Roosters another set of 6\. He had a couple of decent runs, nothing to get too excited about but defensively he was a liability and clearly lacks the pace to remain on the wing as evidenced by getting smoked down the sideline twice in the second half.

Ayshford had to cover him a few times in defense. I think we are just lucky Ayshford is a good defender otherwise Utai would have been shown up much more.

I like that he is a winger with a bit of potency when attacking the line, but we have better options. Namely Ryan, Brown, Tagive & Daniella.

IMO Ayshford will be a real asset this year particularly in defence and that's not meant to downgrade his attack. Always like seeing a player work on his game and improve with the experience and exposure to the top grade.

The few times they got on the outside down his side was when we were outnumbered and him and ayshford worked well together. Willow, his runs were better then some of our forwards runs. It's clear that you guys dont like him which is sad. I think he will play round 1 especially against his former club.

Personally I don't think the club needed to sign him, however he came on the cheap and I do feel he will be an asset in State Cup where he will be so easily exploited. Some of his runs were good, but let's be honest, as a winger he does not have the pace to score long range tries and against a younger, taller, quicker player in Luilea last week, he was shown up. He will also be exposed under the high ball due to his height which the Roosters showed on their first attacking kick which he jumped for but knocked on poorly.

There are several wing options who would do a better job at this stage - and that's being objective.

im fairly confident ryan wont be in the team due to the fact he has only just started running again. i would love to see brown on the wing or ayshford on the wing with moltz in the centres. only concern i have is if it will be a liability in defense?

Willow, you and I were watching a different game on the weekend.

Besides Brown maybe, he is our best option on the wing.

Ughhh, Utai no…Brown yes.....Ryan maybe, and sorry I'd put Gibbs on the bench and maybe drop Woods. Too many forwards to choose from. (or maybe leave Woods in as well and give Moltzen a week or two longer to acclimatise).

totally agree about Utai Can't catch a cold and can't move laterally and get caught out in defence because of it
My side round 1would be (similar to most )
McKinnon
Tuquiri
Lawrence
Ayshford
Brown
Marshall
Lui
Gibbs
Farah
Gallaway
Ellis
Heighington
Fulton

Bench

Moltzen
Payton
Fifita
Dwyer
Woods 18th man and very unlucky not to get bench spot

Yep I agree this is team to take out the doggies.

I would put Payten back into the 2nd row and have Woods replace Dwyer on the bench.

There are too many mistakes in Dwyers game at the moment and he could easily cost us a match.

He is never going to get those mistakes you refer to out if he isn't playing. Better to get them out of his system early in the year surely

Moltz in the centre Lawrence to the wing, great speed & more size bringing the ball back.

what the…

Moltzen plays better on the right and I cant see even Tim Sheens moving Australia's second best left centre to the wing!

bob56 clearly does not grasp how difficult & critical centre defence is!!!

It is not all about running the ball bob!!!!

to think that Moltzen is a better centre than Lawrence ???? He'd be ok in a replacement role in centres But no no no no no bob56 Fullback or halfback for Moltzen bench to start with

He can learn how to catch it State Cup.

Don't get me wrong, the kid is a superstar. But I think Woods is a safer option considering trial form.

I agree Dwyer should learn his trade in State Cup and come back a better player. Dwyer will be a superstar and looks like a State of Origin player in the future.

Woods on trial form should make his debut on the bench along with Fifita, Payten and Moltzen.

Does anyone know if Payten, Ellis, Ryan and Brown will be available. All missed the game against the Roosters.
From memory Payten, Ellis and Ryan did not play any trials.

If Payten is not available my bench would be Fifita, Woods, Dwyer and Moltzen. Brown would be my choice of winger.
