Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

Woods went backwards when he started to stroll backwards into the defensive line. Prior to that was a very effective middle with a little footwork at the line.

Anyway, looking forward to our new halves combination working well again come Saturday.
Mate, when he was 20, the wraps on him were as big as Stefano. And he lived up to them by playing for both his state and country. But he caught the Benji virus and regressed to a ridiculous extent.

PJ I'm a Brooks fan but I'll concede that now we have the troops we can't accept lackluster performances or poor decision making.
To'a is a classy fast and athletic footballer, even though he hasn't played a lot of 1st grade he cant be a worse defender than Roberts.
I also think we're not getting Daine involved properly and that can be attributed to disfunctional halves. Could AD Play fulback and Daine in the centres, has Ken M played centres so To'a plays wing?
Noffa has to improve in D so he could have a stint in reges..
I guess these variables mean there is competition for spots now but Madge is running out if time to experiment and save his skin.
Did we do enough experimenting in the trials?
As @Patriot said somewhere : at some stage we were all Luke Brooks fans. That’s true.

Re experimenting in the trials: I think we tried with Madden and a few young guys. They were truly no worse than the regulars, if anything they actually were more exciting. Each position needs to have enough depth so that after repeat poor performances someone else can be tried.

Experimenting mat be being kind. They were just getting a run like all young players across the competition. Madge already knew what he was going to do.

Yes Siro I understand what your saying.
I know this is a Brooks topic and I shouldn't be saying I'm so over this topic I wish they would take it down, but here I am reading and replying to it 🤔
My point was not so much giving madden a run because with injuries and Covid that was a given.
I'm concerned that our small fulback is going to burn out hitting the ball up the way he does, I'd sooner see his pass off to To'a or Kenny.
Our D last year was shite, I dont think To'a and Gildart would be beaten on the outside.
Another thing I love at the back, 3 tall big guys who can take the bombs and return serve, my 3 would be To'a Ken and AD.
Just observations that are either going to right or wrong, if we knew now we would be billionaires.

I get annoyed sometimes that we have so many topics that are basically the same eg 'The Storm Team Rd1' and 'The WT Team Rd1;
'Are we a chance in 2022' and your predictictions in 2022 etc etc but I'd keep them all if the bloody brooks topic would piss off. When people start a topic at least they could search for an existing or similar one so all the comments aren't reinvented Hey

I tend to agree about having size at the back - and we know AD can handle fullback well.
At this point though Daine hasn't put a foot wrong.
I think Hastings at half with Daine at five eighth, plus those guys at the back, could make us a stronger and more dangerous team.
Brooks and Nofo are dinosaurs.

You see their win loss and points scored average with and without Cleary?
Big difference.
That’s irrelevant if their best winger and 9, 13, 6 are out at the same time on Origin duty. Panthers lost 3 games all year, we were the first to beat them in round 13.
Take the spine out of any team for an upcoming game and see how they go?
I stand by my statement..Panthers can win without Cleary. They are a better side than Broncos.

For me
Fullback Adam D
Wings Ken and To'a
Centres Gildart and Laurie
⅝ Hastings
½ Brooks

Mate, that looks like a good strong set of backs but i think the return of AD would cause one of those players to be omited, unless he is suprisingly performing much better than he did last season. No names, but it's not hard to guess who it is.

Yeh i just like tall big bodies at the back

Bid tall blokes with a bit of toe can defuse bombs and run the ball back better, the quicker centres can adjust to shifts better. I would expriement with Brooks at hooker for the last 10 min of each half and see if that works as he is actually a good defender and could dart out of dumny half quicker than most
