Daine Laurie #237

Sure he’s lightning in a bottle , but it looks like for now , every team has worked out how to put a lid on that . Which makes him redundant as a fullback .
Except he isn’t. How many times last year did he really blow opposition teams away with his speed? It didn’t happen. He was above average at absolute best, but he was hyped up as Matt Bowen in his prime. He wasn’t this level of bad last year, but he really wasn’t as good as everyone remembers either.

My mate at the bulldogs told me that dillon will never play nrl at any club that warren macdonell is at, apparently it goes back a few years and that’s the reason dillon left bulldogs to come here, macdonell apparently not shy either at telling people he doesn’t like him

given what Laurie dished up this year so far you could blood a Dillon and if he tanks we haven't lost anything
That was the worst performance from a fullback I have seen from the tigers

Agreed,i go back to the days of Keith Barnes as fullback and i have never seen a Tigers fullback have a game as bad as Laurie did last night

I know what you are saying, and it’s all well and good to say Dillion couldn’t do any worse, but you can kill off young players throwing them in before they are ready.

Dillon > Laurie

I'd suggest the comments of match fixing and what not cease - his performances are not subtle enough to raise suspcision.

The guy is just damaged. More do mentally than physically, there's a fear of putting his body on the line. Watch the game closely, he gets the ball, he passes. He's scared of of collision and contact. He has been the ultimate cat this season, its very obvious.

Needs to go to NSW cup and learn to play.

Haven’t seen a performance as bad as that from an out an out fullback since Dylan Edwards’ start to the season in 2019.

For those that don’t remember he had an absolute diabolical start to the year which snowballed in his 6 errors at the back in round 3 vs Storm.

Moved to the wing in round 5 and dropped from the team in round 6 in favour of Caleb Aekins.

Hopefully our man Laurie can find his confidence back in Reggie’s but we need the coach to make the call first.

Yep I remember that game and was thinking about it yesterday too. Thought it may have been 2020.

Difference between Edwards and Laurie is that Laurie has a better skillset. Edwards has a bigger ticker.

Truly one of the worst individual performances to ever take place in the jersey.

3 weeks of garbage.

Madge has backed him at each presser.
Interesting to see if he can defend that again after tonight.

"I know how well they all train and prepare..."

It doesn't matter.
Madge defending these players and trying to win their favour is the reason this team sucks.

We will never get anywhere with hugs and back pats.

End Madge.
Enough is enough.

I think Laurie is at the crossroads as a player. Has ability but has made some really poor decisions in the last 6 months off the field and his head certainly doesn't look like it's where it should be on the field. For his "cat" like play the last couple of weeks, i go back to last year when he made an escape from the in goal that was pure courage that he had no right to make. Says more about where his head is at IMO than anything.
I hope Dillon has been getting plenty of catching practice at training. Someone said he has a habbit of not contesting kicks which if true will kill any 1st grade career before it begins.

I agree. I described his pathetic jump at the time as gutless, however no footballer who plays football at this level is gutless. He definitely needs to spend some time in 2nds to get his timing and confidence back. He might also be able to work on his general positioning and who knows, maybe his sign language. He strikes me as a bit of a prima-donna at the moment.
