Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

You’d need to be in the building to see what happens when someone doesn’t conform to the acceptable standards. Is it just glossed over or is it addressed? Culture is setting high standards and not compromising on them.

You’re right people will find it boring. It’s Bellamy putting blokes on construction sites when they arrive in Melbourne. It’s not signing Jimmy Roberts because there’s a spot on a roster you can’t fill.

See how fit he’s looking now. Sure he didn’t live up to the standards but my point is it was addressed. Rehab/ probably his toughest pre-season I’d imagine.
It’s not the first time though. They’ve had at least 2 others done for doing coke IIRC (Bromwich and Proctor) Plus various other issues but it all gets brushed aside when you win.

I didn’t argue they are Saints. But on all evidence they have incredibly high standards in performance. You only have to watch Bellamy in the box to know what he won’t cop.

Yeah my point is that everyone points to the Storm when talking about “culture” but they have their issues. Winning culture is the best kind of culture

I'm not sure how to explain it. I look at Cronulla and I see good club culture. They don't always have a star-studded team, but they know how to win, even in their down years. They've had overpaid-has-beens on their cap for a number of years (guys like Woods, Dugan, Moylan, Fifita), yet still they were able to win games consistently.
They've had a good talent-stacked roster for a fair few years now. Cheating the salary cap certainly hasn't hurt them at all, they even snagged a premiership throughout that time. Their roster is so superior to ours and has been for the best part of a decade.
Having said that, their players always play with a lot more commitment and pride than what our pretenders do.

Yep. Never heard of a team struggling near the bottom of the ladder to be described as having a good culture. Winning games is the only prerequisite for having a 'good culture'. Which you also need the best players to have this success in the first place.
Good players= good culture
Hopeless players= bad culture

At the end of the day it's that simple.
