Jock Madden

I get the feeling that Madge will start with Madden/Hastings in the halves and Brooks on the bench in a dummy half role.

Probably just trying to deflect media attention tbh

But as soon as we lose, Brooks will be back in that 7 jumper and we will get the ‘i told you so’

I think anyone expecting us to win this is dreaming.

Keep the expectations low, lads.
Hopefully we can somewhat compete but it'll be us trying our hardest to defend tries and zero attack.

It's going to be ugly but hope they all try.
We usually cop a pasting from the Eels because of their strong forward pack.

I’d love to see how he goes at dummy half. He’s never played there though so God knows how he’d adapt.

Madden is not versatile so can't see apart from 6 or 7 where he plays and he is not quick.
Would hope they stick with 7 Hastings 6 Brooks

We can say the same for Brooks. After a 170 odd games we can then also make that judgement on Madden
madden can't play 9 Brooks can he is.more versatile
happy to make prediction now
1. Madden will never win halfback of the year
2. Don't think Madden makes any other first grade 17 other than ours

At 6 games in to Luke Brooks career you saw flashes of brilliance yes he has not lived up to that however Madden has not even shown that.

Love your postsJedi, however,Luke had a lot more going for him in his start to NRL with legends and stars around him to help...Madden has got bugger all talent around him to help and even learn from, watching first choice players like Jacob not get to dummy half, lose the ball in the process of passing,Ken M watching the ball roll over the sideline with no effort to fall on it,Luke passing forward when we had a clear attacking raid on the Sharks line, etc etc .and all you can do is judge a cup player that is learning and doing his best....I dont mind if people bag players, but at least be fair about the circumstances he has to try and star in to satisfy the critics.....

fiar Point Madden has had some duds in key positions, out if form Brooks and Liddle instead of Farah probably doesn't help.
Perhaps I'm a bit too harsh of Madden I just see plenty of Jacob Miller about Madden just an average type of player

I hope that Madden can build his gsme over coming seasons but at the moment there are too many weaknesses in his game- D is poor, kicking game is average, execution of plays is poor and mistakes way too high. As much as Brooks hasn’t performed in the eyes of some in my opinion he is still a far better halves option than Madden in both A and D.
I am hoping Madge leaves Hastings and Brooks pairing alone and gives them time to build something.

There is a reason that Jock Madden is still in the team despite us already having 2 dominant halves. It is because he is a very good player. You can bring him on late in the game and he's able to take advantage of tired defenses. I am convinced that he could be something special.

Didn't think much of him but the truth is he comes on off the bench and slots straight into key positions and his timing is good adjusting to the nuances of the pace of the opposition.

Best guy off the bench like that was Austin.

Must watch the game closely.

True that. When we have an injury to a key player, we don't lose our structure anymore. I feel like he's been a big contributor to that.

Conversely, there are plenty of reasons as to why, despite decent halves being in great demand, Madden remains unsigned for next season. Not only by us, but with the Dolphins also entering the competition, sixteen other clubs as well.

I see him as backup and also coming off the bench to give the nine a rest, but as he knows the system, would consider keeping him around on a small contract if he can fulfil that role.

Tigers half throws out Dolphins ‘bait’; Warriors star set to trigger bidding war: Transfer Whispers

Wests Tigers could be in danger of losing a talented young playmaker with the Dolphins ready to pounce.

DOLPHINS READY TO POUNCE ON TIGERS YOUNG GUN

Talented young playmaker Jock Madden’s manager has thrown the bait out to the Dolphins as he seeks regular first-team football.
Despite returning to the Tigers line-up this weekend in place of the injured Luke Brooks, Madden has largely played second-fiddle to Jackson Hastings and Brooks this season.
Madden’s manager Chris Orr told the Daily Telegraph that the 22-year-old wants to solidify a bigger role in an NRL side, and Wayne Bennett’s Dolphins could present him with that opportunity.
“He would certainly consider a move to Queensland if the Dolphins were keen,” Madden’s agent Chris Orr said.

“Jock just needs a team to give him the Number 7 jersey. Now whether that’s going to be the Wests Tigers in due course or someone else, he needs a chance to be the seven and run a team. That’s what he wants to do.

“Jock would stay at the Tigers depending on where the club sees him. Do they see him as a fill-in at halfback or do they see him as the long-term solution at No.7? If that’s not the case, then Jock will be looking at a club that wants a genuine starting halfback.
Orr further indicated that he is in discussions with the Dolphins, who are monitoring his player closely.
Speaking on SEN, the Telegraph’s David Riccio said Madden’s manager was throwing out “bait”.
“Look, the Dolphins need to get moving in the halves,” Riccio said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“Certainly, his manager has come out and almost put the bait out to the Dolphins saying look, ‘Jock is keen to get there if the Dolphins are keen on him’.
“Again, it comes on the back of the Dolphins only signing (Isaiya) Katoa coming from the Penrith Panthers … they haven’t really locked down their halves yet.”
Debuting against the Knights in Round 10 last season, Madden has turned several heads with his skillset – highlighted by a strong game awareness and solid kicking game.
However, he has played just nine first grade games since this time last season, and will need to impress in Brooks’ absence if he is to stay at the Tigers.
With Brooks set be sidelined for four weeks with a hamstring injury, the time is now for Madden to make the role his own.

Heard on SEN this morning Matty Johns said it was done....

These next 4 weeks with Brooks out of the team are Maddens chance step up and show what he can do. It may also redefine our future halves pairing with all the halves in the team off contract come next year and available to negotiate from November.
