Earl? It meant he was the smartest in his cohort. He wasn't the richest? Couldn't pay for his degree? The fact others dropped out means nothing. He earned his academic spot - didn't buy it?
And that's my point Earl. He had to be smart enough to get through on merit - not money. Where the cards fall after that is always a mystery.

I think it's absolutely amazing how many 🤔 politicians, governments, Premiers, Prime Ministers, Presidents around the world are corrupt or "rotten to the core".
Are the silent majority, us ordinary people able to do anything about it though?
Do the people in power now have to much control and therefore power over Us already?
The fact Scomo doesnt want an ICAC should tell Us something...and I feel that something is "voter beware'' ... think carefully before you cast your vote...and make Your vote count the best way you feel it can to help Everyone here in the NO 1 country in the World...the Lucky country...of course being Australia
corruption has been on both sides of politics.
I don't particularly like the icac nsw model the way it is dragged out in the public eye

difference is turnbull tried to destroy a party from within and almost got the job done too
He is salty now and tried in 2019 to encourage a vote for independents and is doing it again. The Liberals should disindorse him

Didn't Turnbull leave the party altogether when he got knifed?

As someone who lost their job due to covid and got a job I thought everything would be fine now I've got work. In 5 months I've had one shift just cause you get work doesn't mean you're gonna get to work if it wasn't for welfare payments I would have nothing and most weeks I'm broke welfare payments should be increased with inflation
That sucks. Young or old, there are plenty of people left behind when a government uses figures such as working one hour a week obscures the reality and people cannot even move locations because they cannot get accommodation with no hope of competing in a narrow rental market. Times are great for some, but devastatingly bad for more than a few.

Despite the relative overall success of the GFC period here, there are still a huge number of people nearing pension eligibility that have been unemployed for well over a decade. Certainly not by choice for the vast majority of them.

So many of them are further negatively affected, no, punished by the cost of ridiculous job search requirements, for positions that they are never going to get. Such places a further unnecessary financial burden upon them and changes of prioritised incentives to the young has made it even harder.

I hope that your situation improves shortly.

Doesn't it have to be made public due to the nature that it's meant to be acting in the public interest?
You could write a novel on the corruption a well set up ICAC could uncover. I lean to the centre right but I was rapt that Obeid went down. The only people resiling from a good ICAC are ? who? those arguing against it lol. And who do you think they are?

Yes, every now and then they get ahead of themselves. But the end result? Please! If this is Morrisson's hill to die on he is toast.

Bring on an ICAC with teeth. It will hurt both sides but I don't care. Give me Helen Haines any day of the week.

the coalition needs to get back to hard right and they will regain the one nation and UAP voters, the bulk of people voting for one nation and UAP are not Labor or Green voters anyway the Libs lost the way when turnbull tried to stuff the party from within. He almost lost the un losable election
The Libs have let in many moderates and they need to sort that out as it is the Sharma type of liberal who will lose to an independent at the election.
Libs if they lose will fix up the moderates in the party and bring the one nation and UAP vote back to the coalition next time
It should clear the deck for a Dutton to take over if frydenberg loses his seat at election
Get back to hard right? They have never been hard right and hopefully they never will be. Excessively pandering to either extreme of the political spectrum is a good way to lose the entire middle.

Wow, I read that as you proposing that a right wing candidate beating an inner suburban independent is more likely than a moderate, is that correct?

And here in one post is the reason that Australian politics is down the toilet lol

I want more government payments because I deserve Dom.
When you are at the bottle shop purchasing your bottle of Dom, can I suggest @Earl something that goes very nicely with it?
Well yes I can and I will 😆..I suggest trying a nice slab or two of Fatty O'barrel.
They go so nicely together 🤣

Not very thirsty?
OK, about to walk the dogs at the golf course (tiny town - sand greens), have one while I walk and I might come back. Then I might go all in. In iso and running out of Coopers Red lol. Might have to look in the spirits cupboard? 🙂

Much more civilised political discussion here than the other few boards I look at lol.

yes do think a Dutton type is what the conservatives should be looking at to bring back the hard right. Not necessarily a Dutton fan but if they go to Dutton then they stand for something like that did when Abbott was leader
Some of the moderates are not what the Libs necessarily need if they want to attract that conservative voters from one nation and liberal democratic party and UAP etc they are voters the coalition have lost and not likely to vote Labor or green.
Look at Matt Keann in nsw as a moderate he is treasurer but geez not the best for the party really
