Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

News Corp had obtained details of Haas’ proposed new Broncos deal.

This season, Haas is on $750,000. Next year, the Blues bookend stands to pocket $850,000 and $950,000 in 2024. Should he ink the extension, Haas would enter the NRL’s elite $1 million club, earning $1.05 million for seasons 2025, 2026 and 2027.

Haas also has a club-approved sponsored car worth $25,000 annually.

In total, his Broncos package is valued at $5.85 million.

But those figures ultimately weren’t palatable to Haas. His new management believed he was worth $1 million now with a view to Haas being the highest-paid player in the game on $1.2 million in 2024.

Pretty weird considering Haas stuck through all those tough years at the Broncs and as soon as things are looking up and they're actually competing he goes and requests an immediate release? Might just be a pretty extreme negotiation tactic on Haas' end

Heard someone stepped on his new white shoes again.

And he wants even more ?

Now that's greedy and totally self centred.

Who's telling him this dribble? No way would a front rowers be worth more than 800k.

Broncos need to stand firm. Put him in reserve grade if he sulks.

So what would we pay Haas???
Would be around 1 Mill.

Current contract is rumored to be:
2022 - $750K
2023 - $800K
2024 - $850K

Well payed already. But does have a new agent who doesn't get the cut from previous negotiations.
New contract = agent gets payed...

Haas is amazing but no prop is worth over 10% of your cap. The Cowboys are making it work in spite of Taumalolo, who while undoubtedly one of the best forwards the game has ever seen, is also showing that such long minutes over many years perhaps brings about an earlier decline. In any case, with Hastings at halfback we've shown that we can get good performances out of group of forwards as they are. There's room for improvement of course but with the introduction of Api and Papali'i they'll come.

Now if we could sign Haas for what he's currently on, sure. But not to a back-breaking deal like the one he's after. I'd much rather get Crichton who's much better for the team culture, cheaper and wants to work with Madge (assuming he remains coach) and then look for a more reasonably priced prop option.

His manager is advising him badly IMO.

That new Broncs deal (his manager would have got a cut) goes up to 850 a year.

You just can't pay more than that for a prop.

Even the Rorters won't give him the 1.2 million he wants, so I don't know how he is going to get it. He has had his nose out of joint ever since Fifita got 1.2 from the Titans.

Ironically, Fifita's contract has shown clubs why you don't pay that much for a forward...

Hard to know what Haas wants? Is it a bigger contract than his upgrade? Or does he begrudge giving Orr over $450k for squaring away the paperwork?
His agent reckons all other 16 clubs would be interested 😂 come to think of it, we haven’t heard from Titans yet? They only have 2 $1m forwards. 😂
