Michael Maguire leaves club

I cant believe the reactions to yesterdays decision.

Ive seen it all, handing in memberships, darkest day in our history blah fn blah.

If you are a supporter of the club first thing you do is wait and listen to why the decision was made and where they are headed.

Listening to Tim Sheens on multiple platforms the decision in his mind was the correct one.

For years we have all moaned about our players not delivering on their potential. Going to other clubs and shining. Buying players from other clubs who dont go to another level at this club.

im one of the few that maintain that we have always had the talent. Sure we ignored our pathways under a couple of coaches who made poor decisions but this club always produces talent.

Every season someone starts going on about the team you could make from all the players that have left the club.

A few months in the job and Tim Sheens has identified the reason for this club continuing to struggle.

DEVELOPMENT.

Maguire lost his job because he could not improve players and develop their game. We have seen Kelma hit the wall, Stefano level out, Simpkins under perform and many others that should have steadily improved go backwards.

Yesterday was a very important day in our history. We saw the light and made a very hard decision that needed to be made.

I look forward to our club returning to the days where we bring our juniors through and develop them into consistent and classy players. I trust the club to hire the right coach. They for the first time in this clubs history have everything in place to be successful. Yes its not a star studded team but as a franchise we now have the structure for success.

Hopefully when the dust settles all the sky is falling mob start to see the light and get back on board.
Great post.

He said he sacked the coach because we're not getting results.
Now he's saying he doesn't expect results for a few years...

How did he expect results this year if he doesn't expect them next year?
- I didn't with the squad we have (I would say most didn't)
And I don't know anywhere near as much about footy as Tim.
Could the message be in the hidden text.
Regarding the dispute he had with Kent over Madge’s control of the roster.
All have been signed or re-signed by Madge.
Madge inherited a shstorm before starting and he doesn’t want the new coach to start on the back foot.
Is this an indication that Sheens isn’t happy with the roster Madge put together?
Can we expect a massive roster turn over from the new coach?
It took Cleary one season to turn over Goulds huge contracts and inject the youth pushing to get picked.
It took Fitzgibbon 6months to re-shape / harness the sharks roster.
It can only be that anyone free to talk to clubs in November May or may not be offered new contracts and the Tigers may be willing to push them out the door a season earlier.
There is a huge list in that regard.

Yeah mate - As I said, I get it....
In honesty, I can't imagine Madge here in 3 years either...

Any pushing out of players means we pay for them - We already have no money for anyone...
It's more the push for 24... I get that.
But that's what it was last year as well... We never had any money until this year.

I still don't see how a new coach comes and then there's instantly no expectations on him
- Yet he's in the exact position as the man that just got sacked for not meeting expectations.

If the club has pre-determined results based expectations - Why do they dissolve with the sacking of the coach?

So what does everyone think about benny elias, obviously he was the leak to buzz, probably having a few beers together right now.
Not someone the tiger's club can trust, straight to media.
I wouldn't call Elias a club power broker. Buzz said his source was a couple of power brokers and further he was getting nothing off Sheens.

Yeah mate, Met him plenty of times....
Also seen him screaming his guts out like a scolded cat
on a stage in the middle at Cambelltown Stadium for some unknown reason...
In front of our fans at a home game...
The club has never embarrassed me so much, A board member at a home game

The reaction from meeting him didn't surprise me from how he presents himself
(If that makes sense)

I also asked if anyone knows why he's making decisions for us - Again, I was informed of his failed Music Career...

Either way... He thinks he's relevant - And his mouth is 30 seconds in front of his Brain.
Webby said on SEN this morning that in his time in the game

No club has ever leaked like ours - The only consistent is Benny.

Mate, I think many supporters share your feelings of despair and disappointment. In trying to make sense of this, I'm of the view that the board sacked Maguire and Sheens was not in a position to defend Maguire because the board had the numbers they needed to refuse a contract extension. Madge has paid the price for what the board started a decade ago.
