Good point you've raised, willow. Can't see how any coach in his right mind would want to work under Gus and Ciraldo would have seen it first hand when Gus sacked Cleary.

And there it is in black and white, exactly what Sheens has said all along.....James Tamou has warned Wests Tigers could struggle to prise Cameron Ciraldo away from Penrith despite believing he is the perfect man to replace Michael Maguire.
Tamou spent four years working with Ciraldo at Penrith before moving to the Tigers last season, having played under him as both an assistant and interim coach.
Ciraldo is expected to be the Tigers' No.1 target after axing Maguire earlier this week, with head of football Tim Sheens clear he wants a development coach.
Tamou has backed the move, believing Ciraldo is the best development coach in the league and would be the ideal person to lead the Tigers' up-and-coming stars.
But he finds it hard to believe Ciraldo himself will want to leave Penrith, having coached several of the current stars from their days in juniors.
"I love the Tigers and I love Ciro, and for that to come together would be the perfect storm," the Tigers co-captain said.
"Sheensy and the front office are doing everything they can to make that happen.
"But at the moment at Penrith he has built that there with the young junior system.
"I don't think he wants to leave too early. They have a great opportunity there to do something special.
"He has put four or five years into that group and look where they are now. So I don't think he wants to give that up in a hurry."
Ciraldo's contract as a Penrith assistant is up this year, with the Panthers already moving to try and lock him in for 2023 while accepting he could take a top job elsewhere.
Ivan Cleary's decision to re-sign with the club until the end of 2027 has effectively confirmed Ciraldo will have to move elsewhere to be a head coach in the NRL.
As things stand, he would likely have the pick of the jobs in the NRL with Canterbury, the Warriors and Tigers all hunting a coach as well as any others that pop up.
Of the three available, the Tigers are likely the most appealing.
The club has signed Apisai Koroisau and Isaah Papali'i for next year, while their juniors won the under-17s Harold Matthews Cup this year.
And it is with that next generation Tamou believes Ciraldo would be best suited.
"The things I have seen him do. The respect he has, the connection he has," Tamou said.
"Obviously it helps when you have the same group of boys coming in juniors coming into the first-grade system. That's a massive help.
"That's all on the individual aspect on how they want to work hard for him. That is the best thing, how they want to put their best foot forward for him.
"That type of respect is unheard of."
Tamou, meanwhile, backed Maguire to return as a head coach elsewhere, calling him on Wednesday to make it clear the players knew they were to blame for his exit given their poor performances.
The Dogs do love a Manly coach, Hasler and Barrett before him, so you maybe rightI don't think it's a choice of us or dogs for ciraldo.
I reckon it comes down to Penrith or us.
I've heard on the grapevine in bris that Gus is after toovey.
Don't hold me to that tho, the source is involved in the QRL
Ah right, willow.....yep😉Good point you've raised, willow.
James Tamou is probably hoping Ciraldo will get the WT gig so James can get a contract.....just throwing it out there 🤔And there it is in black and white, exactly what Sheens has said all along.....

PLAYERS GET COACHES SACKED......(Tim Sheens)....
I think James has done enough to earn another year if the price is right and he’s willing to go around again. He may also look at options in the ESL to finish off his career.James Tamou is probably hoping Ciraldo will get the WT gig so James can get a contract.....just throwing it out there 🤔
Question is does Ciraldo want to throw his career down the toiletIt would of been done by now if it was happening.. Why would he wait
I totally agree with you, James has been one of the few who had a dig.I think James has done enough to earn another year if the price is right and he’s willing to go around again. He may also look at options in the ESL to finish off his career.
What exactly was the greater good in the Farah v. Taylor division?
I agree, It's almost like sheens went to find somebody who will be a puppet coach for him, someone who will rest the injured players, says what he wants to be said, and not rock the boat. When the question was asked he tripped because they hadn't practiced that question. I'm guessing the others had the smarts to just say no. It's a poisoned chalice for anyone with NRL experience. (Assistant or otherwise). From reports there are some disenchanted players, languishing at the bottom of the table, due to be replaced. Unless you turn the place around 3 weeks no other club will look at you again for a coaching role. If you do well praise will be given to either Sheens or newly announced coach in waiting working "behind the scenes"I just cannot understand why Noddy was appointed Coach when Andrew Webster has been the Assistant Coach this year and did an outstanding job with Our KOE Cup Team last year.
Imo from listening to and watching the body language [no I am not a body language expert] from the Sheens/Noddy interview Noddy will not be Head Coach next year.
There’s just one problem to ur plan , IVAN the ratbag will no doubt tell him to steer clear of usLet's spin it this way. After watching sheens interview ciraldo would be crazy not to take a 5 year deal at the tigers. Points
1. Best if not one of the best head of football in the game. Tim sheens who won't medle in selections
2. Salary cap best it's been in 5 yrs. Heaps of space next year
3. State of origin quality hooker and second rower next year
4. Jackson Hastings at the club. Say no more
5. Best junior squad coming through in 20 yrs
6. Ciraldo knows the west and how it ticks
7. 5 year plan. No pressure 2023 and 2024 can implement what every system he wants
8. New facilities
It's a no brainer for him. He would be crazy not to take it. This club is a sleeping giant. Finally it has a plan...
We just do what Penrith did to us. Sign him for 2024. Little chance he stays there in 2023.😂 in DT
COWBOYS KEEN TO WARD OFF TIGERS’ RAID
North Queensland say they have no concerns over the future of coach Todd Payten after whispers emerged that he could be a target for his former club the Wests Tigers should they miss out on Cameron Ciraldo.
Payten, an early contender for coach of the year, has another year remaining on his deal with the Cowboys and the club is yet to sit down to talk about extending that agreement.
That, and his close relationship with Tigers head of football Tim Sheens, has prompted suggestions he could be an alternative target to Ciraldo for the Tigers.
Payten chose the cows over warriors for a reason, and he brought them back up from a dweller feeder, no way he walks away from recent successHe’d be crazy to leave Townsville though. They seem to be in the beginning stages of building something pretty good.
