WestsLife podcast

Well again, that's not entirely what his text says.

Yes there are plenty of reasons to be upset by the Tigers, but most of us are not running podcasts slagging off the admin. Then they invite the admin onto their podcast. I'm not sure what reaction they expected.

The criticisms of Lee are mostly warranted in my opinion, but that doesn't mean Lee is wrong to call them out for being constant nay-sayers, then asking him to come on for an interview.

When all you have is criticism, and you offer no solution or no work for towards a solution - then I can totally understand where Lee is coming from. Again, my opinion is Lee is being naive about the impact of the way he speaks to fans and members, but that doesn't mean his comments are entirely wrong either.

For example Lee puts a lot of hours and a lot of money into the club. Nobody seems to be grateful for this. He gets criticised often, and it seems to me mostly because Lee is an easy target - a bigwig lawyer who wears odd hats and appears fairly arrogant. But that does not abrogate the fact that Lee H volunteers a lot of his time and money to attempt to make the club better.

So I can totally understand Lee then having an emotional response for being called out all the time. His mistake is probably publicising that response.

We had a similar thing with The Ambush stuff, though on a much smaller scale obviously. People critical and calling out the attempts to engage with fans and members, without really understanding what was going on. It's difficult because many footy fans are fickle and very quick to criticise.
No that's true, I'm not totally absolving their podcast either. I don't blame Lee for not wanting to appear on the podcast, and I did say he was on the mark about calling out the hyprocrisy of leaks within the club when they clearly attempt to obtain (or get fed,) information from within the club themselves.

He does tip in a lot of money into the club, he also gets something out of that relationship by having a big badge on the front of our jersey and the associated signage/banners promoting his business. It is definitely not a one way exchange for him.

The run of the mill fan puts money into the club without any material return, so it is indeed a point to be made that making comments about fans who don't financially contribute (for whatever reason,) aren't worth consideration to a bloke who has bought advertising space (he's not doing it for the love.) This bloke is also meant to be making the club a more attractive place for fans to put their money into. Instead he's saying that the club should not be considerate of fans for not being members who might still otherwise contribute financially via merchandising sales and walk up ticket sales (the boys from the podcast may still do this.) It stinks of fan elitism.

I'd offer solutions to Lee, but I'm not a member so I'm apparently not possessive of an opinion worth hearing.

I really enjoy the podcast. When they've had peeps on they've been very respectful. Lee should have sucked it up and gone on.

Passionate though Rob may be, he doesn't strike me as particularly intelligent.

The whole thing is a high school drama. Both sides fumbled to some good points amongst a lot of nonsense, someone ended up crying and as always, both looked foolish in the end.
Imagine that sort passion behind a club that wins . Pascoe would be bathing in pineapples 🍍

The at times painfully homemade podcast, bags the hell out of Lee and the Board - episode after episode for six months or more - and then they‘re surprised that he declines their offer to come on for a chat, and that he doesn’t particularly like them or what they’ve been ranting about ... surely there are no shocks there. Human nature I would have thought.

Must say though, Lee was a goose for reacting the way he did. Should have given them nothing with a “thanks but no thanks” response. He’s only managed to pump Rob up to full megalomania status.

Someone grab the defibrillator, I think a Wests Life gasket is just about to blow 🤣

When you start a podcast (self-proclaimed biggest podcast for any sports team in the country apparently) there is bound to be some sort of ego develop. From what I have seen, they have some self-entitlement issues to believe Lee has an obligation to go on their podcast.

Lee went on radio and appeared to make himself very available to fans. Then sends that text.

He stuffed up.

Like I have already said, there are things he said in that text that makes him look a like a goose. I don’t have an issue with him turning them down, I just wish he was more tactful, because he‘s a very poor representative for the club based on said text.

I can't believe the thought process in sending a somewhat "Polite" text message requesting him to appear, after not so delicately shit canning him, The Club, Management etc. for hours a week, year after year.. I don't know if I'm shocked or amused.

We hate you - relentlessly, We think you're shit, You don't know how to do your job...
We can't control what we say, or how we say it....
But a quick smile and an invite to come over should fix everything...
😲😲😲

AND to act shocked and shame him when he does decline the invite.

Can’t blame that one on the football department or the coach.

What other errors is he making that we don’t know about? How’s his relationship with player managers? The mind boggles.
