Mate his on $750k, I’d have thick skin if I was making thst much dough and I was terrible at my job.
 
Burton struggles to control a game and is inconsistent, but when he puts up a bomb or kicks down field it is an incredible weapon. Brooks has no redeeming feature that excuses his inconsistencies and poor game management. So he has games where he is threatening as a runner but this depends on time and space, and every other part of his game, besides defense, is a weakness. You can talk coaching and his form under Cleary etc, but the guy cannot get a repeat set or kick a 40/20. That's not coaching, that's ability, and he doesn't have it.

A sad end to such a promising player. We were patient but he just doesn't have it.

And everyone bags Madden even though he has had about a dozen NRL games,yet Luckey boy has had 10 years and big dollars...I gave him a big chance this year with Hastings in the side,but Madden has played better with JH than our big money 7 we have put up with for years.....

Cleary did something. Brooks all of a sudden became a good defender and led the team pretty well (still not well enough) but Brooks has had enough opportunity to prove that coaching is not to blame for his lack of consistency and quality. Cleary made huge and debilitating mistakes as our coach, probably as bad as Taylor in destroying future years, but Brooks played well under him.

brooks won rookie of the year in his 1st year, Madden has played 1 ok game in first grade against the worst team in the comp

Agree brooks isn’t the answer, but I think if madden had it, he would have shown it by now … Like I said before there’s been plenty of players that have come straight into grade and shown promise. If (big if) madden is to have a decent career, it probably won’t be at the tigers because we are a mess

He has regressed consistently for 9 years. He could compete in the rookie of the year now as a 150+ game veteran and not even make the top ten shortlist.
