Wests Tigers Coaches

Truth. Exactly why we had backended contracts in place so we could keep those players. We were broke with a board only interested in factions and self interest. I'm not overly thrilled about the whole Sheens taking over as coach, but the Farah Benji years were the best years of footy that I have experienced and would do it all again in a heart beat.
I don't see any thing wrong with ex players being involved with their clubs - and it is not unique to ours. Young players identify with Farah and Benji and so do their parents. If they both aspirewere to be coaches at some point so be it. Billy Slater is currently coach of QLD SOO team same age vintage and lack of coaching experience. Really get over the bagging of the two best players this club has produced who from all reports are two of the few who want to see the club get it's act together.
Telltails I love your input but have to disagree on the last part,Benji and Farah were part of Sheens getting the axe, they both left the club to do better elsewhere,Farah got Potter not renewed because he couldnt coach...Benji and Farah have always been about themselves and thought they were the club...Ellis,Tuiaki.Hodgeson and others I can name contributed to the team and club as well over the years but because they werent juniors then Marshal and Farah are the greatest because they were...

How on earth could anyone have confidence in a club where the person in charge with signing our new coach fails to get any of the intended targets and ends up recruiting himself for the job he was interviewing candidates for?!
I suspect this may always have been his plan

You've added two of the top 5-10 players in the game.
I reckon JT would have that team in finals contention.
If only it were that easy.
Clearly not easy but Sheens has recruited game changers for us long ago. Maybe there’s still some magic dust there.

This reminds me leaking the federal court decision to overturn the Roe vs Wade case. It didn't turn out that way did it.
A more identifiable scenario is

More relatable was when the club was considering signing Willie Mason.
The leaks to the public ended up drawing a line in the sand in for that potential acquisition

What do you see as the main differences in rugby league between 2005-2022 mate? Interested to know.
The speed of the game,a more defensive structured game,a lot more focus on the kicking game,HIA rules, line speed...the game has changed as has the rules bangf05..
Marshall and Farah could make it as coaches in about 3/4 years with plenty of learning.Sheens will have to adapt to the new NRL compared to when he coached...
This is why I said we need fresh ideas ...Some one on here said that teams work players out,Sheens has to do all the work on the teams we are going to play and has to get players that can play to gameplans and structures as well as have the smarts to know what goes on around them...if you notice in some of our games Hastings called the play and was looking for players running off him but they werent there,so in my opinion they have to learn to support the ball carrier its part of the game and a priority in making ground..Im sure Sheens could coach that, but why have some of our guys not got that in their heads most of this year...my point is we need a quality roster that Sheens can coach and not have to teach the basics to for 2 years...

Just think TT we need the perception of the club to change, and having arguably the two most high profile players we have produced involved, is a positive in changing the narrative that WTs is not a club for players to build a future at. Players starting their career need to see that there is a "pathway" to success and Farah and Benji are proof of it. I can see value in it moving forward especially when very few other influential figures in the game want a bar of us. Just my view and well aware of your reservations in relation to their involvement.

This.

And a greater need to be in command of the things we can control such as reduced errors, discipline, and getting through our sets.

All the top sides are very sharp in this respect but apart from odd phases, we haven’t been able to resolve this.

Very frustrating too when we kick for no result or threat, straight to their fullback and our fifth tackle options close to their line are sleepy.

Our attack is in shreds at the moment, we can seem to defend for 65 minutes, but what for?

Never enough bodies in motion, switches or decoys, like we are playing 20th century footy in a game that’s moved on.

And the mind set and resilience is still absent. If we could build that into our heads, we’d be playing a lot better.

I think as troubled as our current roster is, they can be playing a lot better. We see it in patches.

The kids were wonderful last weekend, so a glimmer with the right coaching.

Do we have 2 years?

Spot on - All of it…
Sheens was more often than not carried away with his own image of himself in most of his years here… playing reserve grade centres at prop - playing galea at hooker - fitzy everywhere…

And the club - It was very much All about Robbie - Benji isn’t much different…
The club was built around them - they loved it, not real sustainable… and we simply can’t get rid of them - Benji wont take his kid out of the field in his last game, gives away the game ball - wont wear club gear and throws the club under the bus for not giving him a gimme contract - less than 18 months later, he’s back - telling all his media mates he wants to be the coach.
I took his media comments to imply that he can’t afford to be an assistant coach - but a head coach is enough money for him…
Funny I saw Farah ragging on Brooks for a shit kick on the weekend and was reminded of his shitty dumb kick to Boyd in the dragons semi….
Happens to the best of them Robbie.
Now he’s in the coaches box…. WTF!!

Nothing spoken about at the moment has any upside… if we think no finals for 10 years is a hoot - wait till we give the head coaching role to the rep player that couldn’t get us to finals in most of those 10 years…
It will be 20 before we know it…

People who say sheens, Benji and Robbie will attract high caliber players… how?
They couldn’t attract them 10 years ago - no one wanted to play with them then, why would players come here now?
Lol at the Fitzy reference - I'd forgotten about that! He must have played every position in the backs one year! 🤣

Also, can't wait for the old "split the pack in half after a scrum feed and have the lock run straight into the opposition front row still standing there" play!

Catchy huh...

Don't agree with your opinion

We've tried to recreate storm the past ten years it just simply doesn't work.

Your saying keep trying the thing we've failed at for the past 10 years.

There's literally nothing better out there. Creating some identity, culture, get someone else ready in the next couple of years is a positive thing.

Happy for him to teach some skill again for the guys coming through
That's what forums are for, and I respect your opinion and how you disagreed. 😊

If they have tried to emulate the Storm (unsuccessfully), at least they were trying to follow a winning formula.

I can't see how having Sheens, Farah and Marshall running things is in any way progressive. Rather, it seems the antithesis to me.

I also think those are three pretty big egos there with a fair amount of not so rosy history.

It would have to create a competitive environment within the coaching ranks and I can't see that helping the club. There's enough going on as it is!

The whole concept to me feels desperate and like getting back together with an ex from 10 years ago. Not long after you remember there was good reason you broke up. It never works.

I think Cronk is a complete change of tack from the norm (let's poach the best assistant around) and a prospect with a lot of potential.

He was also undisputedly a far better player than Farah and Marshall and his knowledge of the game is just crazy.

The club has shown it has very promising young players coming along very nicely and I think after a couple of years both they and Cronk would see the team in a way better position than they are now or would be with the '05 Three.

Look, as stated previously I’d be happy with Flano, he’s exactly what this club needs. But for what ever reason it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen, either sheens ego or the lawyer firm won’t allow it. Out of what’s left sheens is the right move, only in a semi custodial role to pass the torch.
Funny isn’t it that there is no media attention at the dogs about their coaching issues. Secretly there working there way to sign Ciraldo behind closed doors with no media pressure!! Good luck Ziraldo they looked after your mate Trent real well didn’t they..,

Ciraldo might sign at the Dogs thinking he will benefit from Gould's hard work in developing their pathways and recruitment, just like Cleary has. Although Barrett didn't work out, the writing was on the wall as soon as Gould got there he said he would assess the situation 3 months in, which pretty much sums up he wanted a different coach from the get go, or there would be nothing to consider imo.

I think we are all forgetting this wasn’t the clubs first second or third option the first 3 options must have knocked us back for us to be in this position ciraldo Morris and Wolfe so options at the moment are probably sheens flano green and out of the left over I’m choosing sheens every day of the week

Have offers been made to Morris or Woolf? There is no information out of the club other than the press speculation that Sheens may coach if asked to do so. But again, that is purely speculation at this time.
