Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I'm convinced that the NRL have certain journalists in their pocket that are trying to control certain narritives in the game. One narrative is to rid the game of teams like WTs from sydney in a bid to relocate teams to promote supposed "expansion" (and I use the term loosely) of the game.
I have stated the very same comment on this forum on more than one occasion. There are too many Sydney based clubs as you say and to further expand and get the crowds to all games across the competition there needs to be a reduction of Sydney teams to further advance the game. We are and have been in the direct firing line for this to happen from the nrl for a while with certain media outlets helping the cause, manipulated refereeing decisions to get under the devoted fan bases skin in the hope that we will give up on our team and disport them.

The NRL, The media and the management groups all feed of each other and need each other. They also all run the game to achieve their own objectives.

If I had to rate them as who was doing the most damage, I would give the gold medal to the management groups, silver to the NRL and bronze to the media

We are all hanging out for a few juicy signings, but most clubs are like us, there is very little action in the market place outside the Dogs and teams re signing existing players.
I guess news will start breaking when eight teams go on holidays in a few weeks

Pascoes in charge.
His approach is sit around & wait...
(For other clubs to have to release players or players wanting fresh starts, forced out, etc.)

As seen with Maumalo, Naden...

Maybe we'll get a few more discards before round one.

You can’t compete for the title without at least one in form game breaker. Sadly there are not many of them in the NRL and some clubs have more than one.
Take the Chooks, they have the best no1, they have close to the best centre in Joey Manu and one of the best front rowers in JWH. On top of that they have the best two kids in the game. You can’t compete with that.

The game will die very quickly if the NRL doesn’t find away to get plenty of movement with teams through the top four. We just can’t afford to see the same teams dominate year after year.

Anyway we are talking NRL, don’t expect anything to happen that might upset a power broker like uncle Nick. It’s sad really because there is every chance that the NRL will do the impossible and kill the chook that laid the golden egg…..that’s the game as we know it
It actually creates more narratives and controversy under the current format. You get the teams people hate, the underdog stories, the rumour and innuendo. It’s probably in the games interest to keep shitting on us. Unfortunately we are playing the laughing stock, or the loveable clown. Not sure what they call us at HQ.

Nowadays Pascoe is taking a back seat in terms of recruitment and retention.
Baton is firmly in Sheens grip and will he live and die on basis on what he brings on board for next 2 years.

Well as far as press and TV.
Even though it was the Tigers worst season, I felt there was hardly a day went by without us being talked about, yet we only last week got to the bottom.
But the other teams that were below us for almost the whole season.
Hardly a word was said about any of them, almost all season.
Like we are now in the position everyone wanted us to be in.

Yep, created the stink around the joint so nobody wants to play for us then the old “not my job”card.

That is what Pascoe said to me during a conversation.

"Monitoring the market."

I hope what you say is true, however with no news I assume Sheens is also taking this approach 😂

The position we are in we should have a daily hook up with player managers just in case any players are feeling unloved, need a change of scenery. Pascoe probably just reads Buzz’s column.
