Adam Doueihi #227

Our halves are set up to fail like our coaches while ever we run with a forward pack who can't hold their own. Sorry to say our pack is the most ineffective as a whole in the competition and all clubs have got us all marked down as a sure 2 points. If Sheens is not working on improving the standard of the pack then the maligning of the halves will continue and all of them should look for opportunity elsewhere - because it wont happen here.

Doueihi if he stays will be imo playing within a framework from Sheens. He did it with Rob Lui who wasn't the finished product (on-field) when he played first grade. Working with Brooks and Hastings plus the addition of Papali'i on the right he will find his confidence (especially returning from an ACL)l
Goals for pre season ;

Squad identified for the next two years and sorted.

All their heads shaved.

Pre season completed in the hills of Dagestan.

Time to separate the men from the boys.

I will be interested to see Benji's impact on all our halves. Also the impact of Sheens. I'm sure there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes preparing for next year.
Your posts are a breath of fresh air at times.
Especially after embarrassing performances like last nights.

1. Brooks has lost us more games then doueihi has and ever will
2. Brooks has had 8 years to prove himself as a leading half earning $1million a year and still hasn’t delivered.
4. The misssing link is Hastings not brooks. Hastings has shown us more in half a season then brooks has in 8. Having Hastings with madden and doueihi we actually looked good.

1: Doubtful... Very Doubful.
2: Brooks isn't on that money this year... So It would be a fair guess that he wasn't for the last 8... And youre FOS
3: Didn't say the missing link was Brooks - Said he's the best half at the club... Nothing you (Or I) could possibly say changes that.
4: Brooks looks better without Hastings than Doueihi and Madden combined.

The loss was so bad that none of our players will want to experience it again. It reminds our players this is the standard we need to be at next year to compete. It is not all doom and gloom.

There is no way Brooks has been earning $1 million per season for 8 years. Brooks on $500k isn't an issue.

There is also no way that Doueihi is anywhere near as good as a 6 compared to Brooks.

There is no way that Brooks has ever put in a defensive performance ala Doueihi has last night and since he came back.

I also don't think Brooks has lost us a single game or that Doueihi has lost us a single game. The team loses.

Hopefully the club as well as the fans start to judge our players fairly and hopefully the club makes some tough decisions regarding our roster.

I swear to god everyone forgets Lui had 4 Seasons at the cows playing with one of the best 6-7's that we've ever seen and was bog ordinary.... (Was there when they won the comp)

Lui's first year was OK... His second was ordinary - As soon as Ellis switched sides, He went into a shell.... People talk like Sheens turned him into a superstar....

He was a kid that showed promise early - Never delivered until he ultimately bounced around in the Super League...

It's pretty bad atm. Our halves are a gamble on multiple levels. Will Hastings perform regularly at 13 over the course of the season ? Can Doueihi learn to tackle consistently ? Can we get Brooks on a reduced salary and then can he somehow come up with good rather than poor options at critical times.

Will our middle forwards do the job and can we develop or recruit a gun edge backrower ?

Then how will we handle injuries ?

It might work but this year we were a bottom 4 roster and next year we will be favorites for the spoon.

So many things need to go right for us to improve significantly.

Douihei is a good player. He had an absolute shocker last night as bad as Kyle Lovett in the centres years ago against Penrith. He’s solid usually but not elite. He plays centre for mine with brooks and Hastings in the halves. The more I see at 5/8 he can’t get it done consistently as a play maker.
Let’s say we could fix his defence…would he be worth a try at lock? He’s a big body and seems to be able to make metres when he runs…the middle may be a different story though.

Totally undecided on him after last night.

There has to be a small gap between your best and worst performances and last night wasn’t even reserve grade quality.

He should of taken sheens offer both to play this season v

Will be interesting to see what impact, if any, Benji can have on Brooks( looking like Brooks staying).
Assume he will be attack coach coz he couldn’t tackle either!
That leaves Robbie with the forwards.
At least Robbie won’t be able to slag the defence coach.
And Tim, he has to be the ringmaster and pull it all together. Interesting times ahead.
Robbie had a period in his career when Ricky Stuart as origin coach said he wasn’t tough enough for origin. Robbie went away and worked hard on that part of his game.

I think of all our new coaching staff, he could make a difference there because he knows what it takes to improve that part of your game.

We don't know what his best position is do we. The problem with playing him at lock is that he would have to learn to organize and ball play in the middle and I'm not sure he has that skill-set.

I think his best position may be edge backrower but for our team I think it's a running 6 that isn't paid top dollar. I think the same way about Brooks.

Unless Hasting can make Doueihi's tackles for him, his help is minimal. Doueihi's defence is a massive problem

Bullshit!

Worst thing u can say about an NRL player is he lacked effort and committment and let his team mates down
We saw that with Moses a few yrs back..saw it with Brooks in final game(s) last year
..and have now seen it with Douhi.Very transparent
If hes not happy for whatever reason(and it cant possibly be $$ as hes way overpaid)offer to finalise his contract at season end and release him to the market
These guys ,and know In exxagerating a bit here, are a cancer to the team's culture and impact his team mates most of whom are busting a gut each week...only to watch Adam be a spectator as his opposite number glides by again ..and again.Dont know how many tries he cost last nite, but many and early and often
Big fan of Adam previously, but know from experience youve just gotta sever the umbilical if thats the attitude of the employee..and thats exactly what he is
Get him out of the joint
