Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I watched Easts the last couple of weeks and we really need to sign Matt Lodge.

He is the enforcer we need. Carried the Roosters when JWH went off early.

Still would go hard for Klemmer and the Penrith prop (name eludes me) that a couple have mentioned.

Whilst I like WT to have a clean imagine I think we need to get some dirty players that know how to win and give the forward pack creditability. If we don't sign some tough experience nut cases for the engine room then WT will remain in the bottom 4 and then lose promising juniors to more successful clubs

I we don't het any experience tough nuts in the engine room then be prepared to remain in the bottom four and then become a trading club to other clubs who are challenging the top 8.

Lodge not leaving Roosters.

Klemmer is average.

Very unlikely Roosters will let Lodge go. Their current run of form began when he arrived. They rarely if ever lose lose players they want or need. It's like they exist under different rules in the same competition.

I have heard that Lodge would never entertain WT. He blames us, WT for sacking him, not his behaviour.

The NRL could also take notes from the AFL on how to run a successful competition. But Vlandys, Abdo, Politis et al would prefer to maintain the status quo.
Couldn't agree more with this. I've been a tigers fan for 36 years now and have enjoyed my first season of getting into the AFL because my 8yr is obsessed with Lions and playing AFL.
The NAB auskick is the best ran program for juniors. For $80, it covers rego, insurance, free tickets to a game plus a lions football and jumper and other merchandise. A lot of the kids are interested in AFL at his school here in Brisbane and I see more kids with AFL balls and wearing Lions gear on free dress days than all other codes put together.
Sorry for long rant, just have been very impressed with my first full year of AFL and highlights the inefficiencies with NRL even more especially the salary cap being an absolute joke...

Not a rant at all. I totally agree. My two granddaughters (aged 16 and 14) have played AFL for a couple of years and my grandson (aged 7) played his first season this year. I am really impressed with the way junior AFL is run. I took them all to a Swans game this year and they loved it.
I compare this to my last season of watching my youngest son play RL in the Parramatta JRL. My son was average size but he was totally dwarfed by the Polynesian players in opposing teams. He was playing under 16s and the thuggery was unbelievable. The young refs were abused and intimidated by spectators and coaching staff. The last game I saw was so bad for the brutality and thuggery by the other team and the mistreatment of the junior ref that I left at half-time and never watched another game.
