Next dumbest move already started.
Play chicken with the government about funding for LO.
We have said we won’t play games after next year with nil funding. State govt wont come to the party and we either look like an idiot backing down or we lose the heart of our home ground.
Why do our management always insist on getting in these public stare downs? We always end up losing them. (Aloai, “the big 3”, Benji / rugby, Farah / Taylor, Ivan/ panthers, LO oval / state gov. They always end up in public threats that never works out.
They need to be better at ensuring circumstances with an “everyone wins” mentality. If they just made more games there (NRL or any other sport) the more complaints about the oval will be public and the state leader would respond with a grant. Heck even the campaign of of “save LO” would be so much more palatable to the state gov without the threat of us not playing there would be better. (Us no longer playing at LO is better for the govt - if we go somewhere else sharing with another club the govt can throw money at that oval because it’s helping two teams and has more people using it!!!)
