Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Absence makes the heart grow fonder ay mate…

He had 2-3 years at top level, outside his pace he had too many deficiencies early on when he was a kid and then his body let him down later on….

Great fella, bit dark on him for speaking out against the club on the news inside his front door coming into that last year…
Me and my mates used to call him “break even Chris” in his early years because for every try he scored he’d also let one in.

Gildart set to join The Dolphins with a contract announced in the coming days.

32 players featured in multiple games for WT in 2022, only 17 remain for 2023.

Fans have wanted players in before players have been released but any movement before next Tuesday is a win for the club when it comes to cap space and contracts commencing.

4 players released from ‘23 and/or ‘24 contracts in approx 6 weeks. Another important part is ‘23 contracts start being paid/honoured next Tuesday.

One criticism previously was coach/club sitting on contracts they never agreed to and then having to ride them out while always having the ‘not his player’ line rolled out. Sheens and Benji have circled the names and got to work to move players on that they didn’t want.

Thanks for the update and I like the strategic approach taken with recruitment and release of players.

The Arborist. Love it!
In the past we have had so much trouble in this area. Costing the club huge cap $ and taking up top 30 spots
Problem was that the ones Madge inherited were on massive money and happy to collect it even in reserve grade.
We’ve got rid of a couple of blokes (Peachey & Gildardt) who didn’t want to be here and had other options and had Tamou retire.
Not much big money disappearing out the door yet …but still hoping Brooks hits the road to Newy.

Not fussed if it was good fortune or good management. Just excited to see the current list of in’s V outs.

Article in the tele from Ritchie, claiming Parra should be fuming the Tigers are speaking to players while they're on world cup duty.
Does he mean the way the Tigers should have been with Matterson and Moses being offered contracts and enticed to dive while still playing for the Tigers.

He was a great centre and clubman throughout his career. One of those backs who could hold his pace over the distance once he hit top speed. I wish we had a centre of his ability now.

An in form Benji Marshall made everyones career a bit easier...
I can't say the same for his hole running - As soon as Benji's form dropped off, So Did Chris's.

I think Prime Benji really opened up the game for both Chris and Ayshford in that sweet spot period.... Benji slowed up a bit and they both all but fell off a cliff.

Sheens has a far easier job to clear the decks as no totally overvalued players he wants to get rid of. I’d go as far as say he will be on the plus side with dollars with Lucy and noffa creating extra wiggle room.
His only worry moving forward is to not overvalue players as coaches have in the past

Sheens knows how to build a roster which suits the style of game he obviously wants to play. Despite all the doom and gloom of the Maguire hardcore, the club is in a good position.
At least he is making roster
moves to suit his game plan.

Always felt during the Madge era we would just sign whoever was available and expected them to play to Madge's game plan.

Madge can coach a certain roster to a high level, he's proven that. But a square peg won't fit a round hole.

Also is moving on Blokes at the end of their deals - Madge had big money tied up over multi years
No chance of moving that kind of cash

But was a smart piece of business from the Roosters to use Mini to entice Teddy in the Italy camp 😒

Here's someone we should look at as a smokie from UK - even allowing for the average defence

Jason Qareqare | No Substitute for Speed

The intro music wouldn't intimidate a butterfly ha ha, but the highlights are good hey.
He's quick and very strong around the thighs. He has a good in and away too.
What's his status?

On another note to 👀

Tim Sheens has held a secret meeting with Mitchell Moses in the UK this week.

November 1 will be very interesting 🙌
the world cup has afforded WT an opportunity to get in Moses' ear without anyone else there. Farah and Doueihi in the Lebanon side and Sheens is over there as well. if we do the right things chances are he could put pen to paper in England without Parra knowing about it.
