Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Doueihi was mostly poor in defence too playing in the middle
I like the bloke but he gives up on the play too often
They have pretty much all played that way, particularly in the 22 season with admin introducing some instability. The game which continues to stand out in my mind for a few reasons is the final game of the 21 season, which saw us get donkey licked by the wooden spooners 38-0.
The highlight for me was Twal’s 68 tackles. That’s something isn’t it?

Just looking over the so called roster, gee wiz we need some big body frontrows ?, to my eyes we seem to be at least 2-3 props short?

It depends. If Hastings plays at 13 and he plays 80 minutes you only need 4 excluding injuries.

First Picked:- Pole, Stef, Joe O, Klemmer
Back ups:- Twal, Seyfarth, Matamua & Blore

It's fine if that is the way we play.

If we play Hastings at 7 which I think makes more sense I still think we are okay but it really depends on injuries.

I think the best option would be to start the game with 3 middles then after 20 minutes or so bring Hastings on to help open the middle up

Finally had a chance to look over our squad list released yesterday including train & trialists.
I compared to our squads down to Harold Matts last season and am very happy with our training list but these are the names I would have liked to have seen as well:

Liam Scolari
Jack Boyling (was highly regarded this season by some within the club)
Jimmy Ngutlik
Mikey Tannous
Henry O’Kane
James Valevatu (Jersey Flegg player of year)
Dudley Dotoi (electric outside back from SG Ball, from NQ)
Cathane Hill (Tigers fullback in SG Ball from NQ)
Chris Faagutu

Possibly Ngutlik, Tannous & O'Kane not included due to being on WC duty and giving Faagutu time to adjust through junior reps with us. And 19yos from Jersey Flegg this season likely retained in JF squad still to be announced.

Hoping @THE_POM or @CCTW can do some digging on the above!

I watch a lot of Super League and as has been stated on here Bateman hasnt hit those Raiders heights. In saying that Its hard to compare his current form to his previous form because he was at one point the best second rower in the NRL. Whilst his form may have dipped the bloke has a real toughness about him. He competes on every play and has a little X factor on occasions that worry defensive lines. We need a couple of Pit bulls who will say “follow me lads lets go”. I was against signing Bateman a while ago but I think he is who we need. He and Klemmer may not hit the lofty heights of Dally M winners but they will rip n tear every week. They wont allow our younger blokes to be bashed and bullied every week.

Most have something in mind to turf his manager

Sam Ayoub (Doueihi Manager) Is Robbie's Manager
- And basically family. Robbie is also in Business with Jai Ayoub.

Joining the dots - Seems Doueihi doesn't think having a manager that is family and the long term manager of someone with so much skin in the future of the Wests Tigers is in AD's best interest.

From a selling point of view, How much is Ayoub going to try get him another deal when he's also trying to sweeten the basket for a new coach - long term client and family friend?
Business is Business - If the reports are true, Seems AD is already all over it....

Doueihi has also said that he came to the Tigers because Farah convinced him he could be "Another Player" at the Roosters - Or a "Club Legend" at the Tigers...
Guessing he'd feel a bit pissed on with us chasing Munster, Moses, Brown etc....

If the other whispers are true that Sheens is a little undecided on him
- We can go from 3 Halves to "Maybe" 1 real quick

Like i said, going by your list of players we are short 3 big body props, we don't have Klemmer, Pole is still learning, Stefs form last year was going backwards, and the backups mmmmmmm

Have said before - Doueihi is a better Fullback than Laurie...
Outside a bit of pace and being a bit sketchy under the high ball...
He offers more from 1 than anywhere else.

His kick return meters, Tackle busting ability and his game from the back would
give us so much more than we currently have...

Worth considering.
Laurie is not only faster, but he is also very good under the high ball and has a very good passing game. This allows him to fulfill the role of second 5/8. The other huge difference is defence. While Laurie has been caught out positionally on occasion, his tackling is very good. For all of these reasons, imo Laurie is our best option but we have signed Staines who is also very good.

Its a tough one. Not sure if he has the pace anymore for fullback. I am just happy he got through unscathed after his injury. He seems unhappy and really unsettled. I like AD but he seems to have alot happening mentally. I think he needs to play centre or five-eight for him to recapture some form.

He is a terrible fullback, just way to slow. This affected him massively in both defence and attack.

I feel he offers more than Laurie...
Laurie has far too many deficiencies for mine - And doesn't go looking for the game at all.
Laurie needs to play through the middle a lot more, he seems to me to be a guy that doesn't start the season in peak fitness and builds throughout the year. We need him starting the season in peak fitness and playing through the middle.

I have him so far in front of AD as fullback .
