Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Regarding Doueihi, he wasn't good last season and a few times fell into the trap of trying to do something unexpected that really didn't pay off.

An unsuccessful chip and chase for yourself on the 3rd tackle (paraphrasing) that doesn't come off reflects poorly, but I think he was frustrated - understandably so in the game I'm referencing. But at least it shows he really cares.

If only he had pace. I don't know for certain, but he just seems like he's just not very quick. If he were I'd put him at fullback.

I've gone through a knee reconstruction myself and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he played the end of last season a lot more unsure of himself as he didn't have an off season to come back. Psychologically it really messes with you - especially getting tackled and side stepping.

Not sure how accurate the 5/8th demands last season were, but I don't think it's wise for anyone to be making them, let alone a younger guy coming back from a reco. I actually think the centres would be an easier way for him to come back, rather than thrown to the wolves at 6.

Personally I haven't given up on him and I'm hoping he can go really well first half of 23.

I really hope he does, but think by around then though if he hasn't improved I will.

Sorry Bat, That statement is joke of the century! Doueihi cant defend for crap. One of the main jobs of any fullback is defence , not just directing it but bringing that man down when its one on one. Ask any forum member her who has played fullback. Clearly you have never played fullback in your life. I would like to hear our members who have actually have played fullback opinion on Bats comments. This modern opinion that a fullback is all about when you have the ball in hand(eg Ponga, Campbell, Sloan etc)is just BS.
Punt them both.

One of the worst memories I have is watching the Tigers play the Gold Coast and Lewis walked around the park and killed us.

When he was on he was special. A couple of players I've seen live that were guns and he was one of them.
Wally a good kick of the ball & game management extraordinaire. However real skill 5/10. Qld had the best BS factory regarding him ..... & NSW were foolish enough to buy into it. NSW used to sit & watch Wally do nothing... he was never pressured so had all the time in the world to do what ever he wanted. Wally was 5 % talent & 95% BS. Thurston & Cronk both way better that Wally. The best ever was Johns by a country mile.

I'm with you mate all great fullbacks are good defenders and can defend in the line as well as in cover. Examples Billy Slater, James Tedesco, Dylan Edwards & Clint Gutherson. I am not sure if Doueihi has these attributes he seems to mainly defend retreating which he basically lacks pace and acceleration to be effectivel.

I reckon Wally was heaps better than Thurston or Cronk but Johns was better than all of them and it wasn't close.

Johns was unbelievable.
Will have to diagree on Wally but certainly respect your opinion. In full agreement with Johns.🙂

Johns was on another level he absolutely carried half the knights team into origin and rep football he made every other player in his team better coached them on field directly told them where to be play after play and in the defensive line called out the opposition plays just before they happened a sixth sense and smashed players with his defence a complete player

Doueihi may not have them, but claiming Laurie does shows how much to op knows…
How many tries scored is Laurie even in the shot? Bugger all…

Can’t call it bad defence when you’re too lazy to get across there ay…
