Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

There's a difference between Sleeping on and getting super excited about a kid who's done very little....
Potential is one thing, There's plenty of other things to consider as well.

There was a kid we had in the juniors a while back, Went to Parra then came back - Played for Fiji in a test or the world cup Salesi Fainga'a....
He had about as much potential as any kid you'd see a few years back....

I don't even know where he is now.
Tupou was going well in state cup. Should have gotten an extended run in first grade given last year’s disaster and injuries to outside backs.

We picked Pauga over him.

I am not sure what it means moving forward given that Sheens was hiding in the background directing Noddy

What are peoples thoughts on
fullback , Staines
5/8. , Laurie
1/2 , Brooks
Prop Klemmer , Hooker , Appi , Prop Steph
Back row , Bateman , Joffa , Pappi
Bench , Pole , Blore , Twal , Smith
centres , Naden , AD
wings , Kenny , Noffa

lots of speed and Strength

i think Staines would def go ok at the back and Laurie at 5/8 , I think he would be a real live wire , a bit like Panfers 5/8

I am concerned about the Stains contract of only 1 yr,. He is without even playing, a better player then the Tigers have in the backline. I think he will kill it at Fullback, and if not, a very good winger or even centre. He is a true speedster, only 22, and will only get better. If he goes well, other sides will pounce and we will lose him. With a dearth of talent in the backs, and a few ordinary players retained that would not outrun Tamu, i'm at a loss to understand why !

The way I look at the Staines contract is a swap for Peach roster wise.
Alot depends on how he goes in the preseason and positional wise what he locks down.

If AD joins say the Bulldogs then I can see us locking in Laurie and Staines quickly.

There is some murmurs around about AD looking at fullback opportunities which I find interesting so maybe a Laurie/AD switch can happen. Team dynamics I think AD would work better for us at Fullback and Laurie around Klemmer.

I think he got injured hence Pauga

An announcement as early as next week could contain information regarding John Bateman. This announcement just might contain a little sweetener if everything goes to plan over the weekend.

Players Daine Laurie, Adam Doueihi, and Alex Seyfarth have not had their contracts extended for now, Tim believes and is hoping this might get a response from certain players.

In regards to Brooks, Hastings and Newcastle, both Tim and Benji both believe they can get more out of Brooks rather than Hastings. Also Hastings wanted an upgrade in his contract to which the Tigers declined but Newcastle agreed to.

Ken Maumalo still struggling on his knee after off season surgery, both Shawn Blore and Tommy Talau who missed most of last season but both players are looking pretty fit and ready to go, particularly Tommy, he has put some extra bulk and and would be tipping over 100kgs easily.

All the new kids on trial and train contracts are all trying their hardest to impress coaches Sheens and Marshall. Also at training are Will Smith and Charlie Staines. Watching Staines he is rather quick, quicker than i thought.
Ok so we’ve offered Moses a deal, he has told us he will think about it over the wknd and come back with an answer on Monday…am
I right?!

AD,was hopless at FB, Laurie is untried in the halves, and Brooks will have either Moses or Wlliams as his partner

Tupou hurt his ankle at training late in the year.

He would’ve been there ahead of Pauga.

Sorry to disappoint, but Nanai will stay a Cowboy. Not sure where CG has received his info but it is well off the mark in this instance.

Leniu and Klemmer still the most likely to join the squad for 2023, along with Bateman. Bateman will depend on transfer fee and personal terms, so there are a few hurdles to overcome there.

Sheens has lined up a meeting with Leniu, Bateman and others while over in England. Unfortunately, i have no info on who the others are.

Talau will be also be apart of the top 30 next season. He has a train and trial contract which will turn into a 1 year contact provided he progresses through the off season injury free.
Any news or updates @CCTW ? We've heard this past week from our other insiders but missing your info.

Thats pretty much how I'd run the squad, but will Smith can't play yet as he is only t&t, and big Kenny is struggling on one leg.... I'd probably have ngatikaura off the bench if fit and tupou on the other wing if no Kenny
