John Bateman #268

There are a heap of articles about his comings and goings and all for what ever reason have been at the expense of one club in favour of another while lining his pockets. We have paid dead money to get him here on top of 4 year deal on who knows how much - if he delivers great - but his history is there for all to see.

His history is benign other than he has risen from very difficult circumstances. He won Dally M second row forward of the year but that will not stop those wanting to whack the club, Sheens or Marshall over the head.

Oh please you pick and choose who's history you want to target and who's you want to ignore. I hope Bateman has the best season of football ever next season and couldn't give a rat's who signed him and who didn't, but there is a risk with him and I hope we don't get burned like other clubs have before.

Most would agree this is the best recruitment drive in the history of WTs and you are still complaining.

He went back once from the Raiders to be with family and now he has skipped out on Wigan's deal. Not a great deal of history to be honest. Does he want money or does he want his imissus To be happy by coming here. No one knows.

4 years is too long. 3 would of been fine. Who cares how he is in the last year. we can offload or retire him like other teams do these days.

I agree paws,Madge got the ball rolling after having his hands tied in regard to cap and money available..just a shame that he wont see his star recruits or be working with them,Benji and Sheens know that the WTs need to show winning performances, not aged has beens looking for their last paycheck..Klemmer,Bateman added into our pack with Api and Papi is a pack we havent seen for ages because of poor recruitment,Sheens knows we need strength and now we finally have it,they have to earn their pay,as does Sheens and co....

Wasn't discussing recruitment was discussing Bateman.
Predictable sidestep - not referring to Bateman

There is nothing to sidestep and Bateman is a quality player, an international with aggressive on-field play and a desire to win. Bateman forms part of the recruitment drive and when called out, you obfuscate.

I can see Bateman being a more aggressive Liam Fulton.

He's a Sheens calibre player, through and through.

Under their coaching- I can see him being massive for us.

Our pack is elite quality for 2023.
Well done to the team, putting together a line up like that !

Well written. I'll add also the precise way the club went about clearing top 30 spots for new recruits set a new bar for retention/recruitment at WTs. This is the hidden gem in this process.

I am sure the Tigers have done their due diligence on his character.

Now with his wife from Australia, his previous legitimate reasons for returning to the UK and our coverage in the backrow with talented youth, there is nothing to worry about!

He will bring leadership, experience, line speed, intensity & he's a winner!

I've been critical of Sheens but our roster has improved out of sight. Sure we have unproven guys in critical spine positions and our outside backs haven't been great. The thing is next year we have a good pack and that may make a difference to a bunch of players.

We also don't have anywhere near the injuries we had to kick off last season.
