Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Why does he have a hide asking for 900k? In 2021 he was our best player by miles and he's playing alongside a bloke who has done anything for years who's getting paid $1.1 mill in 2023.

If I was Adam, and I had to play with Brooks getting paid that much, I'd be doing the same thing he is
clubs have had some time to take Adam up on his 900k let's see what happens, supply and demand don't think he will get too many takers at 900k a season as a 6

In regards to Brooks he will have to take a haircut at his next contract, but 2023 is backended to over 1 million he has not been on that for the last 4 years.

Does anyone here think MM is mature enough now to come out and say "I have unfinished business with the club, the way I left last time wasn't a true reflection of me or my character and that's why I have decided to come back, and I want to help this team build something special" - IF he signs?

I don't. It feels too easy for him to stay at Parra and I reckon that's what he is going to do.
That's exactly what I was insinuating when I suggested earlier in this thread that Wests pull the alleged 1.25 mil offer for his services unless he says he's looking forward to returning to the Tigers and working with Benji and signs immediately. Some humility, remorse and genuine commitment to the club that put him on the map in the first place.

Possibly but with their personnel changes in 23 don’t you think that Parra might have peaked ?
Maybe time to move !

I am really happy with the recruitment this offseason but we are not closer to a Premiership than they are.
If you put yourself in his shoes, look at the situation:
Parra: just lost a GF, he is in the system already, has a great halves partner and backline with strike power.
Tigers: No chance of a Grand Final in the foreseeable future, a fan base with a LOT of haters, a terrible history with the club but he more money and his BFF is here...

It's like any workplace though. If you are doing your job as well as or better than the next bloke, and said next bloke is on double your salary, you'd be asking for substantially more coin

Brooks is the example because he's the highest paid guy at the club.
But Brooks is an interesting case study coz despite the fact he seems to be liked by all, and is on top dollar, he’s been a loser. So the problem is not comparing yourself to his money, that’s only natural, but the club in keeping someone around in that situation .
Paying big money to someone who doesn’t deliver.
In the real world he would be gone. And the message would be despite what fat salary
you are on, it’s based on your output.
So the club creates its own problems by keeping him around to the hidden resentment of other employees.
And hence we go around in a big circle and come back to roster make up.
NB Brooks lovers, don’t get bitter and twisted, this is not about him personally, look at the example I’m quoting regarding payment for performance v other players expectations.

Brooks won't be in that position again. It was a mistake.

I see your point but he’s an old Tiger who allegedly wants to help rebuild and imo Parra has gone as far as they can go,for the time being.
Just differing points of view on the same issue.
He may well stay but I’m prepared to say now imo Parra won’t make next years GF.

I think his manager is stringing us along and telling us what we want to hear to keep the offer on the table.
Don't get me wrong, I can't stand him and don't actually want him back. But I cannot see him coming back here and grovelling to the fan base because we felt dudded when he left.
I agree that the Eels won't make it next year but they will aim for a mini rebuild to challenge again. That mini rebuild looks like it would take a lot less time than our massive overhaul.
Very much just differing viewpoints, nice to have a disagreement without it turning into a slanging match!

If your happy living in your current house and someone offers you 25% over the odds you probably say thanks but no thanks. On the other hand if your offered 50% or more you say..here are the keys. I think that’s where Moses is and I think Parra will get close enough to any other offer for him to say..thanks but no thanks

I view it differently but he is different to me. In my eyes playing for the Tigers is the pinnacle. Playing for Parra is something to hide from your grandkids.

Moses is now 28 and more towards the end than the start of his career and is in receipt of several huge offers of which ours is rumoured to top the next best by around $100k and at least a couple of hundred grand more than his current club. We should still be a fair chance of signing him. If not, we at least gave it a great shot!

No, he's been told to shut his trap and that he is a major reason why the club has struggled with recruitment. He should never talk about recruitment with anyone outside the club. Never.
I found it quite embarrassing for the club with his comments and actions with Latrell Mitchell and Garlic sauce
