It was a trial, with mostly young guys wanting to impress thinking they need to stand out - hence defenders running out of the line, no shape with the ball. Clearly nervous teens trying to look good playing against a better team.
We were never trying to win, it was about putting those young guys into an occasion they have never had before so if they are called up later in the year they will be less overcome by the sense of occasion because they have played at a game in a big stadium, against some stars with a few people in the crowd before.
That makes no sense. When they get called up, they will be playing alongside our best players who will direct them. If we wanted to see how they would go, we should have sent some of our leaders with them. That way we could judge how they take instruction in the heat of battle, under game conditions. Whether they can implement what they have learned all off season under high stress and fatigue is vital intel.
As it was, they got nothing out of that trial.

“Laurie is a better fullback than Hynes.
Doueihi is a better centre and 5/8 than Hynes.
Both the above players don't have Papenhuyzen, JAC, Munster, Hughes, Smith and Grant in their team”

Plenty more where they came from. You really have NFI about identifying talent, do you?

Argument over nothing, as usual. He ‘Hynes’ was never going to come to the wooden spooners with the guppies offering him a contract. From Melbourne to us? Never going to happen! So who cares who said what #irrelevant.

The argument wasn’t about club recruitment and this is a forum so deal with it. Just because an argument makes you uncomfortable doesn’t make it any less credible. I know you want an echo chamber where everyone talks about how great the club is and how Nofo is the best winger to ever play the game but most people have a brain and working pair of eyes.
The argument was that when Hynes was available, we had a group of posters, who also happen to be Brooks personal band of arse kissers, on here who downplayed Hynes ability, said we had players here who were better than him, called him slow and that he would not succeed outside Melbourne. Repeat pattern of behaviour.

That is beside the point.
Certain posters are criticising posts made about our terrible depth posing smug diatribes about lack of options and ignorance towards the player market. There is some comedic value in the fact these same posters were dead against us recruiting genuine talent when it was available as it would have affected the selection of their favourites.
I still cannot fathom there were people on here who said we shouldn't have chased Nicho Hynes when he was coming off contract 18 months ago, especially the blokes saying he was slow
Stop Making Sense we're on the road to nowhere ... actually I think we'll be just fine. The Stef effort in the 2nd half gives me hope that the senior players are primed for a big year. 9th is looking in the bag! 🥃 🐯🏉🤣
