John Bateman #268

Can I ask a weird question

Did Bateman get into any strife when he was here with Canberra or even back in England ??

Something is telling me he did something at Canberra ...not sure why

Maybe something has delayed his visa application

Got into a brawl with Curtis Scott after a team function, but police never became involved, it wouldn’t be that.

I don’t think there’s anything sinister behind the delay personally.

Hagipantelis provides update on star English recruit's visa issues

Hagipantelis has detailed the latest on John Bateman’s visa delays and when he expects the English international to arrive at Leichhardt.

Bateman couldn’t apply for a visa until his contract was formally registered by the NRL but was then delayed due to the Christmas period and wasn’t set to join the Tigers’ preseason training until early January.

After months of speculation, Bateman was officially announced as a Tiger on Boxing Day, which would ultimately be the cause of his visa issues.

Hagipantelis admits it’s been a frustrating period for the team but is hopeful for a quick resolution in the near future.

“It’s got to go through police checks here, police check over there, he stands in line, there’s no exceptional circumstances for him (to) jump the queue,” Hagipantelis said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“It’s a working visa of course, it’s not a tourist visa which is much easier to get… we’re just going through the motions.

“It’s beyond frustrating. I’m not going to make any excuses, we would have loved to have him here by now.

“We spoke to him last night via Zoom at our season launch; he’s very excited to get here. He’s doing what he needs to do to keep himself fit and train, and they’re sending him all the plays.”

Hagipantelis was unable to set a specific time for his arrival but noted it should be completed sooner rather than later.

“It remains to be seen; I’ll be hopeful in the next seven to ten days but again that is simply biased hope on my part,” he added.

“Until I get confirmation, we won’t be able to say exactly when he will be here.” (SEN)

Bateman is likely to miss the entirety of the NRL Pre-season Challenge and is in doubt to be ready for the Round 1 clash against Titans on March 5.

What a piss weak response, it’s the club’s fault for weighing so long to register the bloke , and the club has no idea how long it will take , how about saying u have tried checking all the avenues. If he’s still sitting in England in round 3-6 the club is really going to look like FOOLS AGAIN

How could they register a player that hadn't been released from his existing binding English contract?

Lee is bloody useless 🤣
His “update” is pure speculation/fantasy on his behalf followed by an admission he has no idea when this will be sorted.
Thanks Mr H!
