Luke Brooks #167

Your view. In 2019 halfbacks would have been as scarce as bacon in Lakemba, and that can drive up the price. Brooks’ sacrifice shouldn’t go unnoticed because it was huge.
If I pay you $600k to do a job for me, and promise to pay you in 4 years time, how much has it cost you?
Brooks has never been underpaid.

For his output he has never been underpaid by this club.

Not entirely true....
He was being paid 550k to finish 9th and take awards the same year Moses was getting paid
Close to 800k to win the Spoon at Parra.

He took unders those first couple years (And 550k WAS unders) after his mates left for the new recruits.
Reason why he was upgraded soon after, And why he's back ended somewhat now....

Could almost guarantee that with the lack of Halves in the comp,
The money he's on now will be where most conversations start for any half in a year or 2...

Any shortfall he may have had earlier on in his career is justified because he has never reached rep level or played finals footy, yet he is still up there with the highest paid players now in the game. Over the course of his career to date this club has never underpaid him and whether he could of got more going somewhere else is a different conversation.

Only because he was short paid in the first 2 years of this 4 year contract. Can you logically lambast the guy for agreeing to help the club out of cap pressure?
As I recall, our CEO was calling the Brooks’ contract and its restructure a major coup and I take full credit....etc. 🤣

I get that but people never care about previous years when it comes to cash and what gets spread via the Media.

Even at 750-800k normalized salary I cannot see how Bateman who started the year late would be on that this year.

Short paid for the first 2 years of his last 4 year contract? 🤣
Is that why he played like a $150,000 player?

This is incorrect.

Without any TPAs Brooks is alleged to be close to 250K above the next in line.

This cant continue based on recent performance.

PS - Golden rule of negotiating, Ask WHO ARE WE COMPETING WITH TO RE SIGN HIM???
the club gets a 180k discount (betwee hom and nofo) off any contract they sign with Brooks due to length of service. If you get Brooks for 500k effectively it is 320k on the cap. That is what will keep him at the club

What will you do Winston? I mean post Brooks? When he retires or better still consistently plays to his ability with a team in complete harmonic motion?
1106 posts, and still batting strong with 1102 telling us how bad Brooksy is. 👍
Support a wining club.

The question is where will you and Brooks spend his retirement? Holidaying in Europe or just cosying up together watching Netflix.

I responded to the point he'd never been underpaid,
He was - In 2018....
In fact, He won half back of the year and was probably the least paid half that year...
As I said - Him never being under paid wasn't entirely true....

All the other stuff you're waffling on about, Has little to do with the statement I was referring to..
Has he been overpaid - Yep...

But - in 2018, He was - In fact - Underpaid....
Meaning - Wests Tigers have under paid Luke Brooks.
Which may well happen again..

Yep if Brooks was good the chickens would be on him right now.
