It's ok if you are a "Brooks Basher" or a "Brooks Supporter". Who cares either way?
Is Brooks part of the problem? Yes.
Is Brooks THE problem? No.
The ridiculous drum beating that any or all reserve grade halves are an immediate upgrade over Brooks is laughable.
Brooks playing at 6 or 7 is nearly irrelevant. Case in point= Cody Walker is the playmaking heartbeat of Souths at #6. Cliff Lyons. Scott Hill. Foran. Jason Smith.
Brooks just needs to be the complimentary halves partner. Like Benji was to Prince. Like Toovey was to Lyons (want a player comparison? Toovey & Brooks are remarkably similar players skillset wise).
Elite playmakers are not easy to come by. It's not like teams are happy to lose them. You generally need to either overpay, buy very early or take a swing on potential....or develop your own. We swung for Moses & Munster. Pearce & Johnson. Those were your proven options. It might be time to swing for potential. Schuster seems the obvious option. And you wait patiently for the youngsters to develop.
