The fact that they were fullbacks meant that they supported more than the average centre, but they controlled their corridors to perfection. They did most of their damage out wide. They did play like centres, albeit in a hybrid capacity.That thing about NSW's centres pulverising QLD proves that point though. It was two fullbacks who were picked there that were given a licence to roam around the field. The fact they weren't centres and didn't play like centres is what made them so effective.
I am starting to think that the over reliance in having a perfect spine is encouraging too many cooks in the kitchen. Rampaging centres are a perfect foil for mediocre halves and thats what we have and likely will continue to have for a couple more years yet.
