Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If I could offer any advice, it's to not listen to the 360 guys too hard. As has been pointed out- there is a definate agenda against SOME people at the Tigers. Pascoe is particularly in the spotlight of James Blooper & Anastasia.

Think about it- they have done NOTHING but bag Brooks for 3 years. Now he leaves for Manly & the Tigers are a shambles, Manly has secured a great talent & are probably favourites to win 32 premierships in a row.

Lee Hatwearer says that Fulton & Marshall had robust conversations on players & disagree on some targets- Schuster for example- Anasta turns it into some kind of feud. Benji has been in Bali for nearly a week. Anyone seen his Insta pics? Didn't look to be fighting with Fulton, unless he tagged along.

Tonight- Fainu is only being let go because he's not up to it. He's only been regarded as the most exciting prospect coming through the ranks for the last few years. But now? Nah, he's rubbish. Not like Brooks, who could be in line for a surprise SOO call up.

If they get an opportunity to put a negative spin on a story regarding the Tigers- they take it. WITHOUT FAIL. And then these biased comments become message board gospel.

Every topic they bring up- remove 80% of the vitriol & CONSIDER the rest. We all HATE Pascoe. Why? I'd guess that 99% of everyone's opinion is based solely off the intrepid information handed to us by the same guys that think Brooks signing with Manly is a coup.
Why do you watch it?

Why do you assume people can’t look at a situation and make their own minds up?

In regard to our halves next season- we need a player that can do our tactical kicking well- preferrably both long & short kicking- while being smart enough to be able to either RUN the attack, or at least work with Api to give direction.

That player needs to be coupled with someone dynamic enough to create individual match-up problems, able to create a bit of spark on the field.

Ideally, we can add a player capable of filling in doing either of those styles as the back-up.

Wakeham & Doueihi, regardless of your opinion of either, will likely be in the mix. If Laurie isn't a failure- he might be in it too. I HONESTLY hope Laurie does provide something- certainly makes going forward easier.

If those 3 guys are retained & in the mix- Fainu, Sexton, Trindall, Walker, Taaffe, Schneider, Cogger- can all ASSIST in making things better (some better than others).

The important thing is to get the mix right- get direction, kicking & a certain amount of individual skill that compliments Api, Bula & the forward pack. I'm not sure age is as big an issue as has been made out.

Does anyone think it's strange that we have not heard from Benji for months now.. At the beginning of the year he was everywhere in media but nothing now and I understand he wants to just get into his role. But I think him talking to media about club direction etc.. it would help keep the scum media away and paint us in a better light.
It's a deliberate ploy no doubt. They don't want him to be associated with the failures of this season, so he can start with a relatively clean slate

I seem to remember him having a really bad run of form towards the end. Could be wrong, I'd completely forgotten about him.

At his best, he was great. Unless the money is appropriate, and allows us to still sign another decent half, it's probably not worth the risk.
Happy for him to get a train and trial and show what (if anything) he's got... Nothing permanent though, contracts have to be earnt.

Did anyone really think the hottest 18 year old in the country would be given permission to talk to other clubs and that we'd be the only ones talking to him? seriously..?
It would always be expected that numerous other clubs would throw their hat in the ring, but that our connection via Fulton, Sione, and a number of other boys that he played with in Matts and at high school and the prospect of being the next Benji while being tutored by Benji and being close to his family would be enough to get us over the line, alongside a bumper deal

Not all true.

They actually questioned Manly's signing of Brooks, and that once DCE retires a halves pairing of Brooks/Schuster would be a disaster.

Benji was in Fiji. The rumours of them butting heads was from before that.

Them questioning why they would let go of Fainu and sign Brooks makes sense. Why let go one of the so called most promising players in the game and sign Brooks? It's a fair question. If it's not talent, is it off field stuff they've seen? They could have kept him by not signing Brooks and if they were that pressed for cash, not offering Schuster as much.

I do agree that sometimes, especially Hooper, it's over the top.

All goes away when we start to see success. For a club who hasn't been in the finals for over a decade we can be very precious.

Tallis makes a valid point, if Fainu is the best young prospect atm why sign Brooks. Caryannis was saying because it to try and ensure instant success. Coaches thinking of today not worrying about tomorrow to keep themselves in a job kind of thing.

The clue to the non retention of Fainu & the signing of Brooks , on much more & longer than the WTs were offering , has a lot to do with who they are managed by & who manages the coaches of the respective clubs .

if you ever listen to Gus’s podcast he often talks about the influence some managers have on clubs .

Is Carryannis suggesting Tigers are not concerned about “instant success?”

Exactly. Siebold is managed by Isaac Moses and Isaac Moses manages Brooks. That's pretty much 💯 why Brooks is Manly

🙏Thank you to all that reached out with their condolences for the recent loss of my father, as it again shows the depth and camaraderie of the vast majority of this community, which did similarly so when we lost our daughter last year.

I was lucky to be very close with him for my 57 of his 89 years. Despite showing me love all those years, being from a different era, I was so happy that he finally verbalised it in the hours before his passing, even though it was hard to understand as he struggled.

Please tell those close that you love them at every opportunity.
Deepest Condolences to you mate and all your family
