Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The discerning public know the truth. It doesn't seem to impact membership or popularity. Wests, Balmain and WTs are hugely popular and no matter how much mud is thrown at the club, it seems to have the opposite effect. Just dismiss it and they'll lose interest.
Murdoch crap , old Rupert is not content to ruin liberal democracy and the climate on his scorched earth way out the door, he is also trying to ruin Sports Journalism especially in Rugby League while he is at it .. just a pet project of his

I've been as excited as anyone with the possibility of signing Latu Fainu going by the media hype that he is one of the best talents to come through Harold Matts & SG Ball in the past however long and watching a couple of his NSW Cup games.

Then the disappointment sets in with the talk that he may not come to us at all with the Dolphins rumour (following the previous Titans & Dragons rumours).

Then I think, well maybe we already have 17-18yo halves who will turn out to be just as good if not better in Lachlan Galvin, Heath Mason & Alex Conti. Looking forward to the National Schools Champs starting this weekend to see what they can do!
Certainly getting used to riding the emotions whenever we go through an attempt to recruit a talented player.

I do feel slightly more optimistic with this one though. There was always going to be interest from other clubs for him, so hearing Dolphins are in the mix is no surprise. I always felt him getting a release from Manly was the biggest hurdle (but that seems a certainty with Brooks signing on over there). We have the money, the halves space and pathway to NRL, his brother at the club, the recruitment manager he has a good relationship with, the club has a good relationship with Tartak, Benji heavily involved in discussions which should be promising for a junior half, the boys are from sydney south west, we have room to accomodate Samuela if need be, could trade Talua for remainder of the year.

Lots of right things for him to come our way, so no excuses. We can't allow someone to outbid us, as that is the only way he doesn't land at concord in my opinion ( and it shouldnt be an issue with our cap space anyway).

With that all said, an announcement confirming his signing in the coming days would be fantastic and put us all at ease!

A couple of Tigers snippets in the Courier Mail Sports Con column this afternoon:

The Wests Tigers distanced themselves from reports linking them to Sexton following Luke Brooks’ move to Manly.

The Broncos are set to stave off a poaching bid from the Dragons and Tigers to win the signature of rising playmaker Jock Madden.
isn’t Madden already at the Broncos? how could they win his signature

To add More to your point,

Im getting really concerned about the possibility we are being screwed again,
those photo's we were shown were two photo's of misery personified, wheras you would expect a very satisfied smiley face if you had just been made a huge offer to secure your future????

But big question becomes why are they willing to take Brooks $750.000 who has done very little in our club for years and allow the best 18 year old in Rugby League to leave Manly.

You would think if this kid is as good as we are being told.
Manly would be keeping him and forgetting about loser Brooks.

This does not make a lot of sense, the only reason I can see for Manly to let him leave, is because they have an out of control kid that they just dont want in there club anymore.

Whats going on, is it going to be good news, or down the line the worst news we could possibly want.

Fingers Crossed Everyone.
The brothers weren't part of the rainbow controversy?

I often wonder how some of the older League journalists like, Alan Clarkson, Ray Chesterton and Peter Filingos would react to the crap that Buzz Hooper and cohorts spew out these days.
